Last Of Its Kind - Porsche 911 997 Video
A good friend of mine and fellow Porsche owner made this, it's part of a new youtube series that he is working on. If you have time, give it a watch, like and subscribe!

Wow, tough crowd. Before I posted it I gave it some serious thought about how rennlist would take it and whether I should post it here... and boom there it is lol. It's so difficult to find quality content on the 997 platform, I think Prabhul did an amazing job, the point of the series is that its a story about that particular car and owner, not about the 997 in general. 2 minute video telling a story? If you have a tough time watching a video that's over 2 minutes, perhaps A.D.D. medication is in order...
I guess everyone can go back to discussing IMS issues, bore scoring, and which battery tender works best...

IMO 20 minutes listening/watching someone obsess about their car is hard to watch.
He should get get rid of the front license plate and redo the shoot and make it a 2 minute video. Even that would be pushing the attention span factor....

Cool video but less interviewing. 911 Obsessed is an understatement as we all love our 911's. Nice build but the front plate is an eye sore. How about some more sprinted driving.

Do owners of other car makes obsess over this "last of the xyz" stuff. It seems like every generation is the last of something. Last of analog gauges, last of having hydraulic steering, last of having a seat with 12 way adjustments, and on and on.

I once had a fear that the industry trend are that the manuals would all be gone. Seems like they are making a comeback and the real fear for extinction are physical buttons.

I do get it though that for some, they just like the older style (eg. 993 or other air cooled versions) just for nostalgia/old school reasons. I don’t feel that way personally (not a fan of old, cramped, poor safety features). While I do love my 997, I have driven the newer models and like them, and would prefer to have the 991 or 992 but just like that I don’t have any car payments for any of my cars and like to keep it that way for a while.
But yeah, other makes do too…eg. Ferrari 458 being last of NA engine, 430, the last manual, etc.

Cars are like time capsules. They were built based on what was legal at the time and what was currently the design trend of that era. The one thing that I've noticed on my Supra and cars from the 90's are how thin the A pillars compared to current cars that are so thick to have an airbag. We'll never see this again because of the safety regulations changed.

Yes, a lot car guys like the discontinued models, it's human nature. We want what we can't have and when they go out of production, that's when the want starts. Look at 70's Mopar vs current Mopar, air cooled vs water cooled, 90's Japanese cars vs the latest re-incarnated versions. I have a MKIV Supra turbo and it's more special then the BMW/Toyota MKV Supra because Toyota actually built a car that could go against what Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette, Lotus, BMW had at the time. They haven't done it even with the MKV since they needed BMW's partnership.

it's canada guys - the plate is mandatory.
while the interview was a on the long side - the production value is good for this type of video.
i 100% applaud the effort + time spend.

I enjoyed it, nice break from the Bore Score Panic.
I think each iteration of the 911 has its pro's and cons. Its a quest for perfection but one's perfection is another's folly.
Keep the Videos coming.

I very much enjoyed the video and like seeing longer format videos on all generations of the 911. Yeah maybe there were some awkward parts to the interview but then this was not done with pro actors so who gives a hoot. Made it more genuine for me. Isn't the saying that PCA uses, "it's not the cars, it's the people" or something along those ways? I think the format of interview followed by a short cinematic film worked well.
I think people just got triggered by the "last of its kind" portion of the title. We all love our cars and want to think we have the special one. Just hoping this doesn't turn into a Corvette forum with all the special and rare build options built of the last Tuesday of the month of whatever decade. Last of its kind? Pop into the 996 forum and look for the early build model thread if you want a good laugh. It's the last of its kind because last time throttle cable was used and no traction control of any kind. So technically last of its kind.

+1 applaud the time and effort. A lot of very nice footage with the drone shots and outside drive along footage. Great eye for angles and lighting. Nicely done. Not only is it time out on the road to get the shots, but lots of time editing and color correcting. Nice quality all around, nice effort. As far as the length and attention span some of us have. Meds do help! But a lot of us make very quick decisions about what to spend time on. It's no disrespect to you. And yes, Rennlist is a tough crowd sometimes!
