Default M96 vs M97 AOS Systems

All,

I recently embarked on a journey to change my 997.1 S pulleys (after a catastrophic failure) and in the process broke a known fragile AOS coolant fitting (pics attached). When speaking with some dealers about the parts I needed to replace they expressed confusion. Looking at the diagrams on Auto Atlanta the piece I need is visible on the M96 diagram but not on the M97 diagrams (pics attached), which appears to show a completely different AOS system. I'm certain I have an M97 motor as stamped on the blocked and have also verified with various internet photos that the piece I need is located on the 997.1 3.8 motors.

Here's the question: Can anyone confirm the AOS system they have on their 997.1 S model? I'm wondering if it is a Porsche system error or some other issue. Thanks in advance.

I don’t know the part, but when I call Pelican Parts, they always end up figuring out the part based on the pics and descriptions I give them.

@CBRich I have a 2005 C2S with M97-stamped engine and I have the AOS system that you've circled in blue "M97.01 Crankcase Bleeding".

Me too. Having said that, if yours is a 2005 as well then there is a chance that they simply used a mixture of auxiliary parts on your car. For example, my car has a tiptronic bumper even though it is not a tiptronic and the electric cabling in it follows the color scheme of the 996 and not that of the 997. I wouldn't be totally surprised if they used up some 996 AOS supplies on the new engine, if it fits.

Thanks for all the insights. I have ordered the parts I need, but find it interesting that my 2007 has the possibly older AOS system. Not sure how that could come about, but it's certainly the case.
