For Bluetooth and CarPlay, I'd take a look at https://www.9xxresearch.com. They also have a backup camera that works great.

The closest CostCo is 37 minutes from my house and I’m not a member. Gotta see what the difference is from regular tire shops and see if it’s worth it. Thanks.

My similar car:

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ld-thread.html

Looking back in retrospect:
1. Tires
2. Fix that suspension and add the DSC controller while you are at it. So much better handling with the controller.
3. Numeric shifter and cables, along with new gear oil.

Great recommendations here. I want a DSC myself. Numeric would be nice, but that’s further down the list for me.

gear oil is done—tires next! I’ll have to look up the DSC control—not familiar with that!

id get an android PCM for about 25% of the 2k budgeted.

OR add another 25-50% (2500-3000) and wait for the oem 997 pccm+

the 9xx / nmAuto / joyAuto solutions wont work on your (our) pcms as it is pcm 2.1 (2005-2008). Will need a full resplacement.

Its not the unit itself that’s so expensive, it’s the dash kit, harness, etc. the labor was only $250 in that quote. Granted, he quoted a kenwood head unit that was roughly $800 which didn’t help. What’s the android PCM you mention??

Late to the party, but consider Amzoil Severe Gear the next time you do the trans.

Agree with get the car working right before modding it, that way you know how the car “should” feel before deciding if it really needs changing. With that:

-Exhaust. Mine came with Fabspeed maxflo mufflers and the carbon fiber intake. Mufflers made a little difference, but the sound from the intake is absolutely intoxicating. Performance is better with stock airbox so during track season I use stock Airbox with BMC filter. Gets some of the lovely noise back but without the degradation in performance. Found with the CF intake it is sucking in plenty of hot air so motor falls flat around 5/6000 rpm - noticeable on track but not an issue driving around the streets in cooler wx.
-Shifter. I have been chasing a “wont go into first” issue for a while, mostly when car isn’t warmed up. Have switched to factory short shifter, replaced cables with OE (sheared one of the cables last year), and added the Function First Shift Right Solution (FF SRS), definite improvement.p You could easily just add the FF SRS with his cable ends to clean up any sloppiness and see if something like the factory short shifter/GT3 shifter/Numeric is really necessary.
-CarPlay. Do exhaust mod first - may find that you won’t ever turn the stereo on, I don’t! Also a buddy of mine, gold certified Porsche tech, has seen multiple cars with aftermarket head units that cause other electrical issues. Supposedly the Porsche classic solution for 997 is on the way, could always hold out for that in hopes that it will better integrate with the rest of the vehicle. If you end up doing any shifter mods you could do at the same time as head unit since you’ll be pulling the center console for both.

Happy modding!

G1 android - 2019-2021 - different cpus + setups but the bezel is just a screen. it is a pain to adjust volume etc - but certainly can pass for oem due to it's simplistic design.

G2 android - released Q1 2022 - with ***** + buttons but the fonts are off, and the mold-size of the unit is a few mm too large overall.

G3 - android - 2022 q4 availability. tried best to make it pass for oem

I have a g1 in my car... for now.

I have left full video review on the facebook 997 retrofit + modification forum (will require you to join the page)
Facebook Post

the link doesnt seem to be working as it's a private group. feel free to PM me as I will send the link there - or i will try to upload the entire review onTo youtube and share it here.

yes of course comes with harness (997.1 + 997.2 quadlock hardness) - but will still require 2, max 3 splices (to NON oem looms) to get started.
