Thanks, me too! I kind of like that fact its just a plain 911. If i wanted something faster i would have purchased a turbo, this is just right for a FUN car.

Although a real pain to paint and maintain I think cars that paint match the lower lip look so dynamite

Congrats and welcome. Great looking 997 with my favorite wheels (call me crazy, but I have Sport Designs on my 997, 957 and 970.2)

It would, agreed. The roads here in NY are more SUV dedicated than 911 dedicated to say the least.

Yes they are my second favorite 997 wheels, I have always been partial to the Carrera Sports. These do work on this car and I don't have any plans to change them. The older I get the more I like an OEM+ look.

Welcome. How does this compare to your 991.2 and past vehicles?

That's a tough one.

The 997 definitely feels like a correctly updated 996 (I liked my 996 a lot at the time). Refinements on the interior, exterior and drivetrain. I have always liked the "Taco" style Aero rear wing and the front circular headlights/refined nose definitely appeal to me much more than the 996 scrambled egg headlights. I think Porsche really messed up in that respect. IMO 911 should always have circular headlights, its one of the most important styling ques. Suspension feels similar to what I remember, the drivetrain feels a bit more stout and connected.

The 997 compared to the 991.2, there are a multitude of differences. The 991.2 I prefer for longer drives, its a more relaxed drive, especially with PDK. More interior space, more technology (Apple carplay ect). It still retains that typical 911 feel but compared to the 997 its less visceral/raw. I think much of that has to do with the Manual/PDK aspect. Both are sub 5.0 sec cars and scramble into triple digits without much drama, the 991.2 is quicker and more refined but the 997 is more communicative as far as steering and road feel. A bit more drama from the 997 which is good.

Both are uniquely optioned base models which I think retains a bit of purity to the model. No S, no 4S, no Turbo just enthusiast optioned base models (nothing wrong with any of that either). It fits my budget and what I wanted out of each.

I really appreciate both cars very much for their differences. Both are rewarding/excellent drives and a far driving experience from your typical daily driver. Nice to have a choice depending on what mood you are in.

You left out the crucial difference - the 991 WB is a whopping 4" longer. And that makes all the difference.

Also I do not know what you have but a 997.2S PDK is not a sub 5s 0-to-60MPH car. It is a sub 4s car.

Yes the 991.2 is significantly larger, the 992 having an even larger foot print (wide-body platform). Thanks for making mention.

The base 991.2 0-60 is 4.2-4.4sec depending who is conducting the test.

The Base 997 3.6 Carrera 0-60 is 4.8 sec from what I have seen.

I have had plenty of quicker and faster cars but those cars didn't appeal to the driving experience that the 911 provides.

Again... not a question of being larger, which they are. The main difference that changes handling dynamics is the 991's longer wheelbase. Few people recognize that, it seems.
