Default 997.1 Window drop for easy access in tight spot

Got myself a 2005 997.1 manual C2S this year and was wondering about a 'missing' feature. On the BMW coupes from the same era, you could have the window drop when opening the door (double click on keyfob). This allows for easy access when parked in a tight spot where you can't open the door all the way. (yes I know, that's what we try to prevent from happening, but other people don't always see to comply with our rules ). When closing the door, it would automatically go up again.

So my question is: Can something similar be achieved in a 2005 C2S either through Durametic/Piwis coding or some other solution?

Yes, you can. Do a search on "comfort opening" or similar. I was able to perform this with my durametric. You keep the key pressed and both windows open, roof not included (would be nice if also possible). Closing with keyfob is afaik not possible, has to be done manually.

Thanks for your suggestion. Opening the window by holding down the button on the key will probably work and I read that you could also enable closing when coding the car.

But what I was specifically looking for was the same feature as BMW offers:
- Dropping the window (for the most part) when opening the door
- Window going up again on closing the door

That's what the F21's and E92's offer, for instance.

Never heard that this could be a feature of 997.

I have both my 997s coded to have comfort opening and closing windows enabled. When locked, holding the button will roll the windows down for as long as you hold the button depressed. When unlocked and windows down, holding the button will roll them up and lock the car. You need a tool capable of coding the modules, like Durametric Pro (not Enthusiast). It was 10 years ago when I did this, but believe there are two different places / modules where you have to change the settings to make this work.

Found my old screen capture. It's in the alarm module and at the bottom of that screen is another setting that has to be changed I think, but that one makes more sense as it says windows in it.

Thanks a lot for this. I'll ask my indy to code this, next time I visit him. I guess this comes closest to the BMW feature.

I can already open the windows with the key, but closing them needs to be enabled.
