My 20+ year old metal body Battery Tender Plus died a couple weeks ago. It's been dragged around on the ground by hand, dragged by a car while still attached etc....
I just bought a new one, we'll see how long it lasts...

Honda/Audi/VW/BMW and probably others use CTEK units, they range from $90-150... Normally i see these last 4-10 years... But many go for way longer.

similar treatment of my battery tender... I replaced mine last season after it failed to charge the 911 anymore (while doing its winter rest). Lasted a good 20 years. bought it in 2001 when I bought a Ducati monster and needed a charger for the winter. (Really miss that bike...)

CTEK is the OEM for Porsche battery tenders. It is exactly same product (form and color also) of OE Porsche, just branded only as Porsche, but CTEK is priced less than half price for the same rebranded Porsche. I bought 3 years ago an excellent tender with the additional rubber cover, extension cable and cigarette light connection (for easy connection to center console lighter spot, instead of open hood, and look for battery connection); and for a lot less than the basic one from Porsche.
