Battery Tender Life
How long should a OEM Porsche wall plug in battery tender last? I've only had mine for 2 maybe 3 years and when I go back to my car the monitor on it isn't showing full charge, it's just blank. It doesn't appear to be properly working anymore.

My Porsche Charge-O-Mat is 17 years old and still works like new.

Electronics - mass produced - Can last decades or pooch out in a few months ..... Just like everything else electronic. The good thing is in general electronic items have a very low failure rate when compared to other products.
Save your money and just go buy a Battery Tender - They work great and most cost less than $75.00 ,, The Porsche ones are wayyy overpriced.

Been using Battery Tender brand for years. They seem to last a long time. Have some of their single units and quite a few of their dual bank units. They make units up to 4 bank with separate charging circuitry for each bank all in a single unit. Have one permanently installed in my wake boat and even with all the wave impacts, still working after 8-10 years.

Like RileyRacing says electronics tend to have a bathtub failure rate curve - high to begin with as defects from manufacturing manifest themselves, dropping to a very low number that then slowly increases over time as longer term effects cause failures.
Sucks when failures happen but that's the luck of the draw - plenty of good ones out there at reasonable prices as people have mentioned. I have a CTek and I hear good things about Noco as well.

CTEK is amazing and mine has lasted 8 years so far.
They doubled in price over past 3 years but still would be my #1 choice.

I bought my Schumacher battery maintainer for $20 at walmart 7 years ago and it works perfectly. Now it's $27, but still a bargain. My last battery lasted 9 years whilst on battery maintainer.

I didn’t realize until I put an antigravity battery tracker on my car that my old Griots tender wasn’t doing anything. Still lit up like everything was ok but no charge. Unfortunately few of these have any gauges to indicate current being delivered so we are left to trust the idiot light.
Have since added one of these things that tracks the voltage and cumulative Ah added.

I had one Battery Tenders 4A units malfunction on me I purchased last year not because it failed electronically (shorted out) It failed due to where the power cable goes into the battery tender housing , the cable split. Most likely from picking it up from the cables and not the housing itself .
Battery Tender was great though they sent me another one N/C .
