Stereo woes... please help!
My 2009 S Cab came with Bose and Nav. I tried installing the Joyeauto Carplay unit and managed to entirely brick the PCM. It's dead. Useless... it actually killed my battery over the weekend as it spent the whole time stuck in a restart cycle.
I decided to stop messing with the PCM and go aftermarket. Crutchfield sold me a head unit and wiring harness that was supposed to work with the factory Bose/MOST thing. However the wiring harness in the car doesn't match up with the wiring harness Crutchfield sold me. I called them and they insisted it was the right thing. I got on a sortof facetime call with them and showed them directly what the problem was. The harness they sold me indeed has no ability to connect to what's in the car. The guy did some research and thinks that my 2009 was a late build and actually got a 2010 stereo. The 2010 version of the Bose has no known aftermarket solution. He said the best I can do is bypass the factory amp entirely. I guess I *could* do that but I am afraid of the process of an entire bosectomy. It looks too involved basically ripping out the entire interior of the car to get at the speakers.
So... is there anything I can do here? How can I get music back in my car? Is it at all possible to connect an aftermarket amp to Bose speakers? I know they have some funny business going on with how they are designed.
I hate Bose so much. The company needs to burn to the ground. I have hated them ever since I first encountered them. This is the first time I have had a car with Bose and I deeply regret it. And this is one reason why. Not to mention it's utter garbage and absurdly overpriced for the low quality.
But right now I am desperate to figure out how to get music back in my car. Is there *any* way to get the harness I already have to work?

Post a picture of the harness they sold you and of your harness connections - others may be able to advise.
"I hate Bose so much. The company needs to burn to the ground. I have hated them ever since I first encountered them." RoFL. Makes two of us. Even chose one brand over another due to BOSE audio equipment. I recall a neighbor who proudly showed me his BOSE 5.1 system for his home theater - $2K of white plastic that probably did not contain $100 of componentry. The lowest quality componentry possible, btw. OEMS love it as they make so much margin on the units.

You don't need to replace the BOSE drivers! They're fine and a new amp is the way to go
All the wiring is at the bose amp, including the sub; new amp goes here
For best sound quality you should have a replacement amp which will allow crossover tuning
Big project with lots of pcar quirks
Bose amps and sub amps are 'timing out' and failing. Best to lose them
Good luck

this shop sold you lots of misinformation imho.
- the main harness that was sold to you, if is quadlock design it is 997.2 / 987.2 pcm 3.0 - otherwise its for the pcm 2.X series 997.1 pcm. if i were to guess, they sent you a 2.1 harness.
- 2009 right up to the final 2012 997.2 / 987.2s have the same pcm, MANY here have swapped out 2009-2012 997.2 / 987.2 pcm's for the newer android units with the 8" 720p screen etc. there are threads here on RL for this. this is for bose/nonBose.
Im in the minority here but the bose system sounds ok for a sports car, most of us have exhausts/intakes and i dont think the sound deadening in the 911 is nowhere @ lexus levels anyways. DSPs in the modern pcm replacements go a LONG way.
Im not 100% sure if the 997.2 / 987.2 even needs a most-hur fibre optic adapter as the 997.1 does. EDIT - it does.
no affilation.

FYI, the PCM system is actually made by Becker of Germany. I really don't know what Bose had to do with it.

OP, sorry to derail. It sounds like you're well on way to a relatively simple resolution.

Bose sucks... but I don't want to mess with ripping it out since my car is a Cab and the sound quality isn't really that important. I'm not looking for audiophile-quality, just decent. Getting a proper head unit in there is all I really want, which the CAI guys are able to do for me. I'll be back up and running next week when it arrives

I went with a Dynavin Pro8. They shipped everything I needed to connect it to the factory Bose crap and it looks & sounds pretty good to me. Not perfect, but the quickest, easiest, best looking option. Installed it myself in 1 hour, start to finish. Just an option for a quick solution that won't break the bank too much. Of course YMMV.
