In response to question on if you get caught; NC can cite for reckless driving if +15 mph over posted speed limit or more than 3 moving violations and take you to jail. Don’t ask me how I know. Park Rangers, not just NS State Troopers can do it.

You can get a reckless driving and excessive speeding ticket by an atty in any NC county you get it reduced to no points, for about $350-$450...you will get tons of lawyers sending you mail to your drivers license address...ask my how I know...

Do you guys have Trial By Written Declaration option on your tickets? We have that option here in CA and choosing the option is easier to challenge with a much higher success rate. I ride motorcycles and like to ride the canyons so ask me how I know.

It has varied each year, but usually somewhere in the Gastonia 321 area. From there we usually head up to Hickory and over on 40, which works well to tie in with others from Raleigh and eastern NC. This past rally we went up through Shelby and did some spirited roads all the way into Fontana. I'd recommend checking out the Porsche Driving Club Charlotte on Facebook if you can. I am not a Facebook guy, but do login for updates from that group and the Dragon Rally Group. The CLT driver group is very active as well so if you are looking for weekend drives it is a good group to link up with.

CBRICH- If coming from Huntsville AL, consider going backway up to Chattanooga, 75 to Cleveland, then get off head east and go up 315 via Reliance to Tellico Plains, then Tellico lunch, and head on the Cherohola to Fontana...

Sometimes I stay in Tellico Plains Its on the Cherohala Skyway, and on the loop for T of D and Joyce Kilmer.
Stay at Tellico Lodge or Farmhouse Inn. Both great, and Tellico Grains bakery if close to both.

+1 for Tellico Grains Bakery. This is a terrific place to stop for lunch or a snack and it's right off the Skyway.
