Default New steering wheel installed . . . Need Foxwell Help

Good evening - I have successfully modified and installed my new steering wheel, replacing my multi-function triangle tiptronic ugly thing!

I purchased a Foxwell 510 to do the necessary programming, but after I got everything installed, I’m still have a PSM warning. My foxwell is saying I need to calibrate the steering angle sensor. I followed the instructions from the gpsadapter site, but I can’t access the PSM menu on my Foxwell.

Am I missing something in the Foxwell menu, or will it be necessary to make a trip to see someone who has the proper Porsche diagnostic tool?

pics for reference.

thanks for any advice!

Hi Joe,
from what I recall, the PSM warning is a self rectifying fault that resets after driving the car for a short distance.
The unit re-calibrates once all the (underway) vehicle systems start receiving data from the associated dynamic position sensors and modules.

Have fun!

If you disconnected your battery before install, which I assume you did, you will get a PSM warning upon startup. Mine went away after backing down the driveway

Thanks for them replies. I drove around 6 miles last night and it didn’t go away.

I think it’s time to make a trip to see someone with a proper computer! I’ll report back.

ir ur new steering module is genuinely brand new brand new (never been programmed ever) - the steering wheel angle sensor calibration will need to be performed.

That is a nice looking where did you source your adapter for the multifunction buttons?

How is that calibration done? Might prove useful for others in the future.

I actually sourced the steering control module from a member here for a great price.

Tuesday I have an appointment for the programming work to be done at a local Indy shop. They quoted me about $100 for the job which seems like it will take 15 mins, but it’s an expensive machine so I get it. The Foxell device isn’t capable of doing the vehicle handover process, which as I understand, allows the cars other systems to properly communicate with the new steering wheel.

I’ll check back with proper photos when it’s all working.

you shouldn't need a handover to be honest.

should be 4-5 (reasonably) intuitive coding settings such as:
- cruise control installed Y/N
- rear wiper Y/N
- multiFunction steering wheel Y/N

and maybe one or 2 more. in fact i am sure someone went thru and listed all the possible settings on a thread here.

the steering angle sensor calibration can also be done via the foxwell. i recall a youtube video of it being done as well re the 991.2 steering wheel conversion.
