Default Need PASM Help

My '06 4S has developed issues with PASM. I started getting intermittent faults last Summer, at first once a month or so that would clear. The faults became more and more frequent, and now are constant. The Durmetric says that I have a fault on both rear shocks:

000F
RR shock absorber valve
000E
RL shock absorber valve

I took the connectors apart on both and pulled the PASM module to see if that connector could be bad,

I find it hard to believe that both dampers failed together. It looks like I will either need to change out the PASM module or both shocks. I can't seen to find the correct PASM module, as they seem to be model specific.

Any troubleshooting advice or sharing past experiences would be appreciated.

I have an 05 C2S PASM module, but like you say, probably has a different number on it and you need an AWD car one. What the number on yours and we can check.

Yes, they’re definitely both model and option specific (e.g. PASM and SPASM controllers on the 997.2 have different part numbers).

To zero in on the right part number, first download the entire parts catalog for your model from Porsche, details here…

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...he-s-site.html

From that, you can look up the correct PASM controller part number for your model (and options if applicable).

Then plug that part number into https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/

You’ll be able to see if that part number is still current, or if Porsche has replaced it with a new part number.

Happy hunting.

Karl.

I did that and Sunset has the updated part number, 997-618-115-08 . It is $930. My problem at this point is determining if the control module is the problem or the rear shocks. It's bit pricey to replace both. Is there a way to test the shocks to see if they re OK?

I bought the updated part number from Sunset and installed it today. The faults are cleared and the PASM now works fine.

good to know.. I guess in hind sight it could have been a good opportunity to replace with a DSC controller instead?

I guess the DSC would have been an option, but it would have been $350 more. I was unsure if I had a shocks problem or a controller problem, so this was my lowest cost option to find out.

One more data point for confirmation: 997-618-115-08 was the correct part for my 2006 C4S. The module that came out was 997-618-115-03. After contorting around in the passenger footwell for a bit and praying I wouldn't snap off any plastic clips, I held my breath as I fired the car up and went for a drive. Bliss. Everything works as it should, and for the first time in far too long, the car did not try to dislodge any fillings over every pebble on the road, and I got to hear the sport exhaust again. Thanks for the guidance, surfdwn.
