I have a 997.2, PDK, 200 cell headers, center bypass and Fister mufflers. Car runs/Sounds really good!
After header install - no CEL for multiple drives. Now CEL codes = P0431 Catalyst Warm Up below threshold bank 2 and P0421 Catalyst Warm Up below threshold bank 1. I can slear the code with my Durametric and they stay gone for a while, then come back after several drives.
I wanted to get a tune to maximize the car performance + fix those codes - think the Fab Speed tune fits my need.
What headers did you install? I installed Top Speed headers with 200-cell cats and got CELs as well. I was able to eliminate the codes using a custom GIAC tune. Not sure about Fabspeed's tune and if that will work as well. Ostensibly, if the cats are high-quality, you should not get CELs, which is why a cheap solution like Top Speed is not recommended. I effectively have catless headers. It sounds good but worthless from wanting to run with cats for emissions purposes. Thankfully, I live in an area that doesn't require testing but for those who need to test, buy quality headers to avoid these headaches.

I also installed the cheap eBay Top Speed headers and the car runs and sounds great! Of course, I know the risk and I didn't expect them to perform like high quality units. At $899 + free shipping - I took the gamble and am very pleased.
Following. I’ve got DTC 0431 on my ‘09 with stock parts.
Indy just replaced the pre-cat O2 sensor on bank 2 per service bulletin 228/09 for P0431 / P0421 but I scanned again after the code was cleared and my code came back after just a short drive.
Hah! I think it was your thread that inspired me to buy the Top Speed headers! I had the same experience where the CELs did not show up in normal city driving but showed up after driving it like I stole it. Would clear the codes and they'd come back after spirited driving, which led to the GIAC tune. I've had multiple spirited runs and no CELs since. Pedal response is much better and there is a noticeable bump in power. Plus the exhaust actually sounds better with a slight burble on over-run. I suspect any other quality tune will net similar results. Good luck.

I have dfisters, topspeed cats, fabspeed headers, no tune. Was getting codes and finally bought the items below from Amazon, total $50 including tax and shipping. I just looked, but can't seem to find them there anymore, Amazon or on ebay... I think fabspeed sells something similar for much more $. Haven't had a single code since I installed them almost 2 years ago

That is helpful! I am curious as to why the spacers make a difference.
I have a 2006 997.1 S, I run Fabspeed headers, Fabspeed 200 cell cats, 90 degree O2 sensor mini cats, new 02 sensors all around, a K&N filter in the factory box, an IPD plenum and larger throttle body all with factory mufflers. I get CEL's driving around town, I've been told the tune is the only way to stop the CEL's. I'm watching this thread.
