OT: Anyone have American V8 pony/muscle to complement their 997?
With all the ballyhoo about big displacement engines dying, electrification, tightening emissions, I've started to think about getting a 2nd car. I currently daily my 997.2 but think it would be nice to have a rowdy V8 car to putz around town or go long distances, and a newer one would be nice. I'd probably split the time 40/60 in favor of the 997. As far as modern V8 cars within the last 3-4 years with a manual, seems like a Mustang GT, Camaro SS or Challenger RT would be the way to go, but they all have their pros and cons. The Mustang has that awesome Coyote 5.0 but probably the worst transmission in the MT82. The Camaro SS is perhaps the most sporty (and that Alpha platform is great) but is probably the worst in contrast with the 997 because the storage space is awful (that trunk is sad). The Challenger is by far the largest, and is an FCA product, but is definitely the biggest contrast with usable back seats (not that I really ever take passengers around) and a nice trunk, probably the best cruiser of the 3.
Curious what y'all do for second/third cars when you don't need to haul stuff or have passengers since I don't need an SUV or a truck.
Not American but I have a MB E550 4-Matic with a 5.5 in it which I use for my winter/poor weather car. Also have a dual pulley S5 6MT for a DD during the warmer months. And then the 997.2.
The 911 is great, the S5 is great, but there is something to be said for a big torquey V8, can’t lie. Tough to match the combination of sound, throttle response, and torque.
I only have room for 1 cool car now so I'm down to just a 997.1. If I had room for a second car it would be a 2011-2014 GT500. I traded a 2019 Bullitt in on my 997. It was a huge, heavy car and drove like it. On paper a S197 GT500 is, too but those don't feel like it to me (compared to a S550). That said, don't fear the MT-82. I've owned 3 and they were all flawless. Carving canyons=997. Drag racing old men in Mercedes and Vettes from stoplight to stoplight=GT500 (even though all the electric stuff will whip your *** now). Just depends on what you really want to do with #2.

I don't have an american v8 and it's also not a sporty car at all but I have a Land Rover Discovery with a 4.6L V8 that I use for off-roading and long distance trips. I suppose in a way it can be considered an American V8 since its a Buick design from the 60s lmao!
My "American" muscle car is my 2003 Audi S8 with 254k miles on it, my daily driver. Great driver, nice power, one of the few cars I own with an automagic transmission, and apparently unbreakable. Love that stupid thing.
Next American muscle car I get will be a 2012 Boss 302 in either Competition Orange or Yellow Blaze. The S197 is the last real Mustang imo.
Here is two of my prior cars.
The blue car was an auto and put out 700hp to the wheel. The red car was a stock 6-spd. I wish I would've kept that red one.
1988 Ford Mustang GT w/ many upgrades (afr-165 heads, 1.7 rockers, gt-40 intake, etc.) putting down 305hp to rear-wheels. Ole horse still pulls hard, sounds great, and is a blast to drive.
