I guess he gets to keep it a while longer. He's had it on his lot for more than a year.

If it is the one at Carriage House, they appear to have lifts and a test drive would be appropriate.

I didn't know he has a lift. Now 2 things would be necessary, a test drive and some one, preferably a Porsche expert, willing to do the PPI on the lot.
So now the search begins for a Porsche technician and I have a feeling it might be impossible and get a test drive.

Someone suggested that he might have had it for top dollar but I don't know if that was the case.

If this is at Carriage House, Mike the owner is very particular and only deals in very legitimate vehicles and of course they have lifts - they have a huge service department. Kyle, the sales manager has a degree in auto restoration - the place is the real deal.

I would suggest making an arrangement with the local Porsche dealer (New Country) or perhaps SST in Danbury to perform an on-site PPI. Or ask Kyle or Mile to bring it there for a PPI - I am a little surprised they wouldn’t accommodate a reasonable request.

good luck.

He stated to me in an email that he was okay with a PPI but the car remains on the lot.
I have my doubts that a Porsche dealer will allow a tech off their property to go to an independent dealer to do on-site PPI but I have been wrong before.
Excuse what is SST? Is that SSTauto? Another very thorough shop called Fairfield County Motorsports specialized in Porsches but he wouldn't send a tech over.
I will call them to find out.
Do you have any particular reason to believe that Kyle would allow the car to be taken over to the local Porsche dealer or SST?
I don't know Mike as so far all communication has been with Kyle. If I could connect with Mike maybe he is a little more accommodating.
To me, when they refused to have a PPI in order to close the deal seems very fishy to me.
NOW if I knew someone who can intervene on my behalf then the deal would be made and the car is would me the way to me.
Thanks for the help and tip. Will let you know what went down.

Greenwich is a small affluent town and they all know each other - when I bought my 997TT from Carriage House, they accommodated my request for a DME and took it to the local Porsche dealership.

FYI - SST is Speed Sport Tuning in Danbury, CT (10 min drive) an independent repair facility and they are Porsche enthusiasts.

If neither one of these work out for you, I have a final suggestion to reach out to Nyol at Speekwerks in Nyack, NY who handles all my maintenance & service to see if he is willing to take a 30 minute drive to CH and perform a PPI on your behalf.

Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss off line.

Let me just say that I really appreciate you reaching out to me to help me - Thank You
Why would he allow the PPI off the lot for you but not for me?
Was it Mike or Kyle you were dealing with, maybe that makes a difference?

LOL - I am local, we met in person and I am very charming - therefore he accommodated my request for a DME (not a full PPI but he would have if I asked). They took the vehicle to the dealership. As it turned out, I know the previous owner so I didn’t need a PPI. And, this was several years ago.

I didn’t meet Mike until I picked up the car and we chatted for a while, he walked me around, introduced me to all the guys and service manager and I was on my way. Kyle was my primary contact and handled all communication.

I am confident that there is a solution to your PPI request.

Unusual. Actually I can't recall ever hearing of such a condition for a PPI before. Does the seller have a lift in his garage? Possible but much harder to do a proper PPI without one. Never mind getting and paying for a qualified Porsche mechanic or a qualified indy to travel to the seller's location with the equipment required. What if you or the tech doing the PPI (if you can find one who's ok with the restrictions) want to drive the car, would it still have to stay on his lot

Just me but I would be inclined to pass on this one for obvious reasons.

From what I understand from local citizens this dealership has been around for quite awhile and deal in high quality vehicles, mainly RR and Bentleys.
Yes, they do have multiple lifts.
About not letting the car off the lot does bother me and perhaps they have had a bad experience in the past, but this is not an excuse for someone who is about to purchase the vehicle contingent upon passing PPI.
I bet if some high profile person called about a proper PPI with the test drive they would allow it. Hey, Jay L.en. Help

Have you considered placing a sizable deposit on the car with full payment due upon successful PPI? Who knows what they may have experienced w/ other tire kickers so at least let them know you're a serious buyer. Best of luck because it seems you really want to get this car!
