Default 997.1 C2S : Dropping engine and transmission - housekeeping

Hi all,
In the coming weeks I will be dropping the engine and box of my '05 997.1 C2S, for repairs to 3rd gear (driver error at speed, don't ask.. 🤣 ).
While I have everything on the floor, any recommendations on maintenance to be done? I mean like replacing coolant hoses, weak starter cable etc...

Thanks for any suggestions..
Cmax

Hi Cmg,
Good call, however I checked my particular engine serial number when I bought the car and (luckily) it's post-upgrade production. To be honest, I can't remember the source (perhaps here) but there was a maximum production serial number published, after which the newer IMS was used by the factory, mine was higher (the serial number).
But a sensible tip for 996 and early 997 blocks.

Regarding the IMS bearing - since you'll be able to see the bearing retainer, be sure to measure the width of the retaining nut to precisely determine if you have the easily replaceable bearing or not.

Yes, would be a good idea.
I actually did mine from underneath a few months ago, but certainly would be easier with 360 degree access 😉

Starter cable, mine went bad. Hydraulic tensioners, almost impossible to change with the engine in. Clean inside of all of the intake...

I dropped my engine at 95k km's, 05 C2S launch edition. I did a tonne of stuff while it was out but almost all listed above.

In addition to all of the items listed when my motor out service occurred I did injectors, fuel rails most sensors and any hose or line that was touched. I also replaced the front drive shaft (I have a 4) as the coupling was worn.

I would replace/detail just about everything you can get your hands on. Including things in the engine bay.
Including any potential future leaks.
Its easy peasy access with the motor out.
