Default Siren alert sound from dash on startup

Recently purchased a 2012 Carrera 4 GTS and I have a siren type alert sounding from dash the lasts about 2 seconds right after starting. Looked on forums and even called local dealer and service guy wasn't familiar.
No other warning or indication of a problem. Just need to now if something is wrong.

Thanks,

Does the car have any aftermarket adds ? (Alarm system, radar detector, radio, etc?) Would recommend using a code reader to determine if any error codes are evident in the system which would suggest cause.

No aftermarket add-ons that I know of. Can you recommend a good code reader for Porsche?

Thanks,

Look up in the dome light and see if you see a red or green LED. This sounds like potentially a built-in radar detector.

I've read some good reviews on a Foxwell NT530 (although I have no first-hand experience with it.)

I recommend it. Does everything I need it to, and even shows over revs.

Check the panel right under the dash gauge panel for two small inserts as well.

Checked everywhere for LED indicators but could not find any. I’ll try to attach a sound file.

Haha, sorry to laugh but that is pretty funny. Definitely *something* aftermarket and not OE. Have you checked your fuse box (drivers foot well) for additional connections? Look for a new wire coming into an added fuse in an unused location. Also check under the dash for an added wiring or a speaker tucked away somewhere.

I agree. Definitely not OEM.

Someone has added a device to the car.

Thanks for the input. I’m just glad it’s nothing serious. I’ll update once I get it figured out.

OP,

You might check your fuse panel to see if there is a fuse splitter/tap installed. If, so, just trace the wire.

Default Update!

In case anyone is interested. I found the culprit. SWAT GPS tracker. Supposedly an “option” from dealer like like Lo-jack. Makes noise if not active subscription. Also read that dealers use them for various reasons i.e. insurance rates, theft recovery, and last but not least Repo!
