Wayne, you've got skills! I've only seen a few of these post! Thanks for pulling them all together. I did see the video a few months back (youtube as I recall).
Apparently the "emergency brake trick" is one of the best kept secrets of a C4S.
1-click and woala!
No doubt. Never heard of it or read about it and I've been a member here since 2007. If it's real I wonder if it affects the steering wheel feel. The AWD steering wheel has a "less lively" feel to it with less feedback than the RWD. I'm doubtful since as far as I understand it, even without the one click emergency brake trick, the AWD cars are not in AWD mode at all times but the steering wheel feel is the same at all times. At least that was the case in my 997.2 C4S.
There are two myths that persist in Porsche world: First is that all Porsche owners are at the high end of the ladder in the Mensa club. Second is newbie 997.2 owners would never fall prey to old-timers sending them off on a snipe hunt of hidden car features.
There has been a lot of discussion about the 1 click trick including on the forum. I find it odd that this is new to so many. A few more references ...
Here is an English guy with the yellow 997.1 and it's secret number 5 on his list although he admits he doesn't really know if it works since he doesn't have a 997.2 model. Someone in the comments seems to verify it with a first hand experience for whatever that's worth.

Thanks. That's the guy. See Point 3 at 2:43 in the video. But on a later video he does show the operation in a snowy parking lot. That being said, I don't know how conclusively he proved the concept.
Here's the original garage419 youtube video (see video at mark 1:55 which states that the 1 click feature was "leaked" by Porsche engineers during the 997.2 debut)...after having a few beers)!
I will watch your videos later today but thx for documenting everything and I look forward to trying this. This should probably become it’s own thread, sure there’s a lot of people interested in this.
@Wayne Smith what do you think of this AWD to RWD trick after seeing this work done by our new RL friend @Rfjohnson.
See edit at bottom ...
The report seems well documented as a scientist would do in a lab. I respect that.
I have not personal data to compare. Not living in snow country and not wanting to spin my car in a dirt lot and not feeling like I have enough power to do this on pavement I bow to our new source.
But his results are a bit different (requiring a number of criteria) from what I've seen posted previously. I only watched the short video (so far) and am having a bit of a problem determining whether the front wheels are engaged or not. Still, I've got no reason to doubt him. I do appreciate the effort he took to share with everyone.
Note: Disabling PSM on public streets would be a big red flag in my book. My CSAA agent has told me that if this is found to have been off they will not cover any accident. Others are free to disagree about over riding this nanny.
I still wait for an early Spring drive that finds me in a snowy parking lot!!!
Edit: Just watched the full length video. That is a lot of conditions to meet. The Porsche engineers really buried this feature. Wonder if that requirement list is the same for all 997.2s or if Porsche made it more conditional over time. If I ever come upon a snowy parking lot now I know what I'll be doing!!!

In SPORT mode, the PSE activation threshold is increased, but will intervene if ABS is activated in ONE front wheel.
One can turn PSE OFF with the switch, but if the PSE senses ABS activation in BOTH front wheels, it will intervene on your behalf.
I regularly/routinely/almost exclusively drive with the PSE switch OFF (LED illuminated) on twisty deserted secondary roads when I enjoy pointing the car in low speed turns with the brakes and accelerator pedal rather than with large movements of the steering wheel.
Negotiating hairpins by exploiting a 911's inherent over-steer propensity is one of life's simple pleasures.
Sport Plus: ON
Stability Mgmt (PSM): OFF
Handbrake up one click
(Left PASM alone - in this case car turns it ON with Sport Plus)
Really nice job on the analysis and the video. Best yet! I wish I could test it out on my 6 spd manual. It's in So Cal, while I'm on the east coast with the Macan.
