It's not been a good year for the 997. $22,000 for a new trans, coils, plugs, vario cam solenoid. Today drive the car and no breaks. Foot goes to floor and car keeps moving and slows down and stops eventually. No leaking fluid. Will investigate when I get home.

Curious if you got service history information on the car prior to your purchase? How many miles? I'm assuming PDK transmission?

6 years. Now with 55,000. Bought it CPO with 5,000 miles on it. All service on time. Yes to the PDK. No problems until this year. Went to do the 12 year gear oil change and noticed a small leak. $18,500 later had a new PDK.

The rotors all around are original. Did put on new pads on last year. I'll get it on the lift and take a look.

Foot to the floor and no fluid loss sounds like a bad brake master cylinder. If you push the brake pedal fast can you get the brakes to catch?

No leaks. All pads and rotors look good. A d it's the opposite. If I smash the breaks it goes to the floor and I get nothing. With moderate stop the work but don't feel quite right.

Is yours a 997.2? I wonder why all of these things started to fail around the same time? Brake pedal to the floor sounds like the master cylinder plunger pin has broke. When it rains, it pours.

Yeah. 2009. My theory? I have bad luck.

Second thought? For the first 5 years drove it as my DD. Not always, but 10,000 miles per year. Last year less than 1,000. I think these cars need driven.

Going to start with pads and rotors and bleeding the system and inspecting the calipers. The rotors are shot. The insides of the rotors, specifically the rears, are covered in rust.

Just tested again. The harder I hit the brakes the less stopping power they have. And the pedal goes all the way to the floor.

Pads and rotors won't cause that. It's almost certainly the piston seals in your master cylinder.

If it sat too long with old brake fluid (should be changed every 2-3 years) the inside of the master cylinder can rust. Then when you brake the seal lips pick up the rust and no workie no more. Or the rubber seals just got old, it happens.

Crystal clear brake fluid changed every 2 years.
Completely full. Agree pads and rotors won't cause it. But when I got it on the lift the insides of the rotors looked shot. Also really just want to inspect the calipers. Actually had something similar to this in my excursion and the ship kept saying it was the master cylinder which I replaced and didn't help, then air in the lines, which no amount of bleeding would help. So I just started replacing things. Turned out I had a frozen caliper. So figure before I replace the master cylinder I'm going to replace all the pads and rotors and inspect everything.

But I do think you are right. It's probably the master cylinder. I'm just an idiot.

Bummer on the service costs this year. Agree that's you master cylinder has failed. If you press on the brake pedal does the pedal also just keep sinking - that's another sign as fluid slips by the internal seals instead of building and maintaining pressure.

If you look at it all on the bright side, with everything you've had done on the car, you're on the way to having a new vehicle!

(Ok, the bad part is that rebuilding a car via the parts department will cost you $1,000,000.)

Yeah. I know. But in 50,000 miles total brake service has been a new set of front pads.

And I should include that Endurance paid $18,500 of the bill. So with this less than $5,000 out of my pocket.

Well. things like these is what I don't want to deal with. I love the car, but one major expense and she's gone for something more manageable budget-wise..

So if I may ask. The trans was replaced due to a leak? Was it a bad leak?
