Default BAT Game RL'ers--->2006 997S Market Value--> MT w/105K Miles

All,
I generally have a good grasp of 997 Market values however I always think resale and wanted some input from you guys regarding what you feel the market value is of the following car I am thinking of buying.
My 991 search has gone nowhere and not enjoying being Porsche-less having to stare at hole on left side of my garage.

The car is local to Seattle. Lived in Arizona until being shipped up here 2 years ago:
2006 997S Coupe - Manual Transmission - Silver exterior w/black interior. Great condition w/all recomended services
105K miles - Clean Carfax no acccients
Car is very tight and runs/drives great - Nice seller to work with who is very accomodating.
Having PPI & Borescope Inspection performed soon.

Provided PPI and BS Inspection are stellar, what do you feel the current private party market value is for this car??

Without the flurry of the BaT auction with an audience, I think the car as you described is probably 38 to 42 range. It sounds like a great car, but the miles are high. While I do not think high mileage necessarily affects the performance and real value of a car, at retail, a car does take a hit after it goes over 100 K. Do you know what the asking price is? I assume you do, maybe you can share that. It could be a case of a guy who has been watching BaT and thinks all 997’s are going for crazy prices.

Think Chris on target. If car really really nice shape with current maintenance, newish (recent date code) tires, and nothing needed, stretch is 42.
Course I’m stick on 2 BaT wins so what do I know! But buy it and drive till find your 991, you won’t lose much cause just having your name associated with re-sell adds $$ lol.

High 30s to maybe low 40s, but that's just me. I'd try to buy it for as close as I could to whatever a reasonable wholesale bid might be. There just doesn't seem to be a meaningful price delta these days between mid-miles (say, 50ish to 70ish) over higher miles around 100k but the problem comes in when you go to resell a car with 100k+ on the clock. No matter how sound the car is mechanically and no matter how stellar the service history is, you'll eliminate a large pool of potential buyers who categorically dismiss cars with that many miles if they can buy the same thing for a negligible premium (if any) with 5 digit miles.

Even though that number on the odometer is relatively arbitrary if the car has been maintained properly, there are lots of .1 cars out there and the high miles would fail the "first impression" test for many. Take a look at how many silver/black cars there are out there with less miles (closer to 50k than 100k) in the mid 40s. There are lots and lots.

$36-$38k. It is a 2006 and not a later 997.1. High mileage. Not a wide body. And again the higher mileage. Unless it is just stacked on options, that might stretch it to $40-42k.

35-40k depending on options, owners, needed work. I would try to get to mid 30's as a buyer, low 40s as a seller.

That said, full leather is a must.....

35 and lower is great, 36-38 good, 39-41 fair (still high IMO), 42+ is today's market pricing

I have a 2006 997 S, Arctic Silver, Black interior, 6 spd, pretty good option list, clean carfax, minimal ownership. Bought in 2019 with 90k miles for 31K. Now I am at 102k with great maintenance and some add-ons, I'd be asking for low-mid 40's with OZ wheels (45-46k with my BBS E88's).

Just for comparison, here is my thread with option list and mileage etc.. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ner-997-s.html

Mid to high $30’s. I think similar high mileage one sold this week on Pcar market for around that. . . Didn’t look closely but probably a good comp. You don’t see a lot of high mileage on BaT but they do seem to show up on Pcar Market every now and then.

Thanks everyone - I was purposely keeping the asking price to myself until I make the deal. We are all thinking on the same plane - I figured low-mid $30's if the car needs some servicing and upper to low $40's if the car is ready to go. My big question on this particular car is whether the clutch was changed.
PPI scheduled for 10/28 as seller is away in Mexico.
As a small hint in my description above, I added 10K miles to the actual current mileage of 95,200K miles because I wanted to see what value/number you guys placed on the car with the mileage the car would have when I would sell it.

There seems to be a real psychological dilemma when these cars hit 100K miles. With the 996C4S's I owned years ago, 2 of them were +100K miles at 110K and 116K if I remember correctly. They drove like they had 50K miles, tight & quiet and as peppy as new.
I'll keep you posted on whether I make the purchase which probably won;t be until 1st week of November.

**Last week I did find another local 2007 997S in Meteor gray being sold at a used car dealer for $35,500 - Manual Trans w/82K miles. Dealer sells exotics and has a pretty good reputation.
Seemed like a good deal right?
Had PPI done at Porsche shop in Bellingham Wa. about 1.5 hrs north of my home. I waited around the dealership all afternoon and 1st time I was able to get under car while on the lift and go over everything with the tech.
Laundry list of issues:
-Front Rotors were worn past dangerous thickness
-Rusted bolts underneath looked like it was driven in snow/salt.
-Cracked coolant tank
-Dirty oil
-Dripping oil from Bell Housing (most likely RMS)
-Accident history on Carfax - Repaint of front bumper and partial fender.
-Needed tires all 4 worn out
-Had adaptive Sport Seats and 2 switches broken.
-Weird noise coming from Air Conditioner and not blowing cold
-During test drive clutch felt too tight and grabbed very high
-I also noticed a few slight dents on rounded edge of rear drivers fender.
-Missing owners manual, toolkit and only 1 key

*So basically a car that had not been well taken care of that needed probably $6-$8K of money put into it. I stopped the PPI at that point and didn;t go forward with the Bore Scope Insp.
It was disappointing but farily easy to walk away since dealer wouldn't budge on price and had 3 out of state buyers ready to buy and ship car home.
Another great example of the importance of having good thorough PPI done.

All the best everyone!

$320 for PPI and another $375 for Bore Scope Inspection at Roger Jobs Porsche in Bellingham
I stopped them after the PPI and bill was $350 w/Tax

Heres the neglected Meteor grey 2007 997S
It also had grey interior which is not my favorite.

Makes me sick to my stomach thinking about my 2007 997S coupe I sold a year ago for $40K
Silver/black, 55K miles and less than 4000 miles on new clutch/water pump and had Muffler Hack.
Who knew the market would jump like it did.
Now tough finding 997 or 991 Manual Transmission car that is sub $50-$55K.
I will be holding onto the next 997 I buy because my instinct tells me a 991 MT w/metal sunroof is a long ways off due to scarcity and me not wanting to pay $90K for one.

Reminds me of my 911sc days - Of course had to have silver/black and silver/black were difficult to find so I held onto my silver/black 1982 sc for years.

Was also impossible finding silver/black 911sc cabriolet. Could only find silver w/blue interior and ugly blue. So after couple years looking I built a cab out of a silver/black 1983 911sc which was 1st year of the 911sc cabs.
Turned out really nice.
