Still waiting on misfire diagnosis. Total cost fit the transmission was $18,500. Sport button update install is $1995. Waiting until they diagnose the misfire before I give the OK.

My thread so I guess I can take it wherever I want. Well coils are cracked. SA doesn't think this is the problem but thinks it is a "high lift" solenoid but they have to do one step at a time. Plugs are a few months from needing replaced again and the coils are original so he said they have to start with these for $1700.

All Porsche parts would cost me about $700 so for another thousand I decided it's not worth my time to drive up and get the car, change the plugs and coils, and then take the car back. He also thinks he may be able to get the warranty to cover any cracked coils.

So it's going to be gone yet another week.

Mechanical things suck when you start taking them apart. Chances are this never would have happened if they didn't do open heart surgery to pull the transmission. As a mechanic, (not automotive) it drives you crazy how things go sideways when you weren't within 3 feet of them. Gives you wrinkles and gray hairs or as my mentor says "builds character".

Either way, that shouldn't be too difficult to sort out. Good luck.

Weekly update. Replacing the plugs and coils didn't fix the misfires on bank 2. Now replacing the valve lift solenoid. This is getting old. Car has been there since Aug 2.

Well it is back. Dealer dropped it off but didn't have time to drive it. Had to go to work. Can't believe it's been 3 months since I started with a simple fluid change and turned into a new transmission, new plugs, new coils, and a new solenoid. Cost me $2000. Cost the warranty company $19,000.

i have noticed that several DIY'ers' have been performing the PDK Clutch fluid change and the differential (final drive) gear oil change. For specifically a GT3, and more specific for a 991.2 GT3, on the differential change, the service manual states under WM99035, Step 4, 3.4.3 it states to extract 150 ML of oil if the oil level is at the lower edge of the filler opening on GT3 vehicles! Thus far i have read several write ups on those that have performed the differential gear oil change but in the write up no one mentions haveing to pull out 150 ML of oil as the final step. Just asking. Seemed odd in that in all my years of checking oil levels in manual transmissions, differentials etc., it has normally been if it just barely runs out of the fill hole, you are good to go. first time i have ever seen if it is at the lower edge of the hole to pull more out? Asking and also making sure that those of you performing this on your GT3, that you are in fact performing this step. Thanks in advance.

I just called the dealer and ordered all the parts I need, based on their research the drain and fill plugs for the clutch fluid and gear oil are the same aside from the PDK transmission pan plug that comes with the replacement pan. I’ll post and update after I’m able to verify the plugs are correct.

Here are the part numbers I ordered:
  • PDK Transmission Pan Kit (contains fasteners and drain plug) - 9G1-321-025-01
  • PDK Transmission Fluid Fill Plug - 9G1-321-805-00
  • PDK Transmission Fluid, 1 liter - 000-043-305-13 (need 6 liters)
  • PDK Gear Oil Drain Plug - 9G1-321-805-00
  • PDK Gear Oil Fill Plug - 9G1-321-805-00
  • PDK Gear Oil - SAE 75W-90, 1 liter - 000-043-305-49 (need 3 liters)
The 9G1-321-805-00 fill plugs (and the 970-321-805-00 screw plugs) have recently been superseded by part number PAF-008-528 that is sometimes called "Trans Pan Bolt" or "Seal bolt with sealing ring". Sadly, the PAF-008-528 part costs $14.60 instead of the $5.30 for the old 9G1-321-805-00.
