I drive barefoot anytime I'm wearing flip flops or sandals, which in SC is probably for 8 months out of the year. It's much safer to drive barefoot than in flip flops as the back can flip down and get stuck as you try to release the clutch or gas pedal. Just make sure you put the sandals somewhere they won't end up under the pedals from braking or cornering forces.
