I am thinking switching from Geico to Hagerty. The main reason is the price. Hagerty is about $250 saving per year. Same policy, the only difference is Hagerty does not offer "Car Rental Reimbursement" feature. Just in case the car has to be in the autobody shop, I need the car to drive around.
Anyway, what is your opinion? Anyone has good experience(s) with Hagerty?
Thank you.

I have Hagerty and love it, no mileage limits, agreed upon value, no need to taake insurance off or reduce when in storage. Previously had full coverage Liberty Mutual along with my other cars and homeowners. paying less than half of previous premium for Hagerty on the Porsche alone.

I have heard great things about Hagerty -- from several owners and a very nice body shop (good to get their perspective, too). Even though I've been with USAA for 30+ years, I'm thinking of making the switch to Hagerty as I have two cars that are part-time, never driven in the winter, and where agreed upon value makes a ton of sense,
This is one thing a Sparty and Wolverine can agree upon.
Thx!
Bob

Does Hagerty buy lidar guns for traffic cops, the way Geico does? No? Well, there's your answer.

Ask around about Hagerty claims payout. I've heard some not so good comments.
I used Hagerty 20-25 years ago when other comanies couldn't compete with their premiums. As time went on other companies like Allstate offer same if not better policys.
It helps to have several cars and homes to get great rates from Allstate and I assume other Ins Agencies. Rates depend on number of properties/autos you have insured with them.

That's something I had not heard about Hagerty, Groov...it's actually a huge reason why I've stuck with USAA for so long as the rates were great and, even more importantly, NEVER an issue with a claim.
If what you say is the case, I might reconsider. Will sniff around some more.
Thx!

Hagerty used to be a cool specialized collector car type of company 20 years ago but now more run of the mill and they insure most everything so do your shopping.Originally Posted by VT Blue

I remember some real negative comments about Hagerty paying on the agreed amount. Also problems with Hagerty if you car is stolen. Slow to pay and they drop you asap forever.
Just got to ask other Hagerty policy holders who have had a claim
But do some hunting around and maybe there is info on Hagerty internet reviews? Found these bad complaints on Yelp:
https://www.yelp.com/biz/hagerty-traverse-city
I remember an old contractor I was buddies with who had all sorts of cars and machinery he insured out the ***.
He told me what a racket insurance is. He said a person should be insured not each and every one of your cars. You can only drive 1 car at a time.
Makes sense.
Just went rate shopping as my Range Rover doubled my rates. Hagerty wouldn't insure my 911 and my Range Rover due to they said they don't do daily driven cars. Even though I walk to work and have low mileage policies on my vehicles.
Went with state farm. Was surprised how good they were in regards to price and service. Went from $350 a month to $190 a month. More coverage than before. Includes watches, condo, one million umbrella and the two vehicles.

I've been with USAA 20+ years myself and I agree, on the rarity that my wife or I have a claim, they do an excellent job with the claim. However, USAA is getting expensive! When we moved a couple of years ago, the quote I got from USAA was more than 50% higher for home owners insurance than the other quotes I received. I've considered Hagerty due to the agreed value (especially considering the 997 market right now) but haven't pursued it.Originally Posted by VT Blue

What really concerns me about USAA is that I have called multiple times and even spoke with a supervisor trying to inquire what they valued my 997 at. They couldn't give me an answer. I asked what if the car was totalled, what would you pay out? Their answer: you need to file a claim in order for us to get that information. They must have a value in order to calculate my premiums you would think. Anyway, USAA isn't what they used to be.
Anyone here use Safeco insurance for their 911 and if so, what are your thoughts? I have Safeco home owners insurance and am considering getting a quote from them.

I have used Hagerty for years and believe they offer the best agreed value option. I can drive anywhere and anytime. I had a quote this year from Leland West that was a couple hundred less than Hagerty but the limitations sucked so I stayed with Hagerty. I have very high comprehensive coverage because I have an umbrella policy that requires higher than standard auto insurance coverage. Originally Posted by groovzilla

I’ve had one claim with Hagerty and they covered it 100% with stock parts. The initial claim guy they sent out tried to low ball the repairs but I insisted on replacement over trying to repair a rear quarter panel on a classic mercedes and Hagerty honored my request.

Not sure if you have Acuity in your area, but they offer agreed value. I insure all three of my vehicles, full coverage, for what Hagerty charges per vehicle. They have always paid promptly. My local body shop swears by them - he said he's never seen any company better, and he's seen 'em all. He also is a customer.

I have Hagerty. You can't use it for a daily driver and you have to have another vehicle to use as a DD. But they are 1/3 rd of what Allstate wanted and I have OE parts replacement and an agreed upon value. I've had them for about 5 years now and luckily I never needed to file a claim.

USAA isn’t what it once was for rates and coverage. Once there were two really good insurance companies: USAA and Amity. Now, there are zero. Nature of the beast (mass market risk pool). I split my 911 from the USAA herd because they absolutely will not do agreed value. They will comp the lowest lowballs and total your Porsche claim if they possibly can. Been there and they did that with my previous 911. I had to really push hard to get them to budge any in my favor. In an appreciating market, with a car that has been updated and had money put into it, protect as much of that value as you can.
Hagerty met my 911 needs for coverage and price. Other, more specialized, companies are doubtlessly fine as well. There are now more agreed-value offerings these days for our P cars. Nature of the beast (niche market forces).

I think insurance rates all depend on your age, your risk, how many homes/vehicles you have and how long of a customer you have been.Originally Posted by JRBucks

Hagerty couldn't touch the premium I receive from Allstate. Allstate will cut a check for whatever shop I decided to use. Thats what they did when my Mercedes sedan was hit 5 years ago. Took it to best shop in Seattle and never a question asked and also had rental car for 3 weeks. Of course they wouldn't offer thios to anyone just cold calling or just out of the gate.
After 30 years w/Allstate it helps w/customer care. Also helps having 5 cars, 6 houses, boat, $2m umbrella, daughter and son with renters insurance.
Insurance companies have changed so much over the years. I tried helping a friend of ours who for the 1st time in 15 years bought a car. SHe has been using Zip Car and Uber and now is moving out of city.
My Allstate agent can't help her unless she gets insurance at the same time she buys her car. Sound wacky but new rule with many large insurance companies.
These companies will not insure new drivers with no previous insurance history unless they insure the car the day they buy the car that they want to insure.
