Default Blackstone oil Report

I am happy with the performance of my Mobil 1, 0-40 oil in the extreme heat here in Scottsdale. Because of COVID, I dd not drive many miles last year and as a result, waited for 13 months before I did my oil change. I have used Prolong Super Lubricant in every car I've owned since 1988. My 997.2 is no different. I don't know if it has anything to do with the longevity in my cars or not, but I have had several cars with over 100,000 miles without engine issues. My last car had 173000 miles with zero engine issues.
I have been using Blackstone Labs to analyze my oil since I started doing my own oil changes with this car. I am attaching the report for you all to view. From my LIMITED knowledge base, this looks like a stellar report. This is my daily driver and Arizona is known to be hard on car engines. With ambient temperatures over 100 degrees F during June - September, engines have to work hard and oil is stressed even more than usual. The local PCA won't even run track events during this time.
Let me know what your thoughts are on this report, if you would like.
I was thinking of switching to MOTUL oil but don't really see the value since Mobil 1 is performing so well. Thoughts???

Good thing you are changing the oil early, at 3,000 miles, because as you can see, it's shearing down to below a 30 weight oil. Iron is high-ish for that OCI. Could be 1/2. Start running an L&N Engineering billet magnetic drain plug.

I have been running a magnetic plug for two years now.

Good job.

You an are excellent candidate for Mobil 5W50.

Assume I am ignorant, because I am, about the viscosity difference and the advantages of 5W-50 and 0W40. What will I gain from switching to that?

Still A40 Porsche approved.

Less high temp, less high pressure, shearing. More robust additive package. Stays in spec during the OCI.

OP - Here’s a VOA of the Porsche 5W50. Probably help with shear at your normal OCI.

Agree with LexVan. 0W-40 too light for Southern US climates. Even in northern US, would only use 0W-40 during those months where ambient temperatures below freezing regularly. Then switch to 5W-40 (better) or 5W-50 (best). I am in south Florida running 5W-50 year round. You give up a minor amount of gas mileage for better engine protection.

I agree with this. 5w50 is better suited for extreme heat.

Would be interested to know the detailed differences in the additive package that you've referenced, and how that compares with the additive package in M1 0w-40.

And M1 5W50 VOA...
I’m no tribologist. But it seems the current formulations are being made for increased shear resistance and higher mileage engine internals. I think with current oil choices, at least a 5W40 would be best. I did VOAs on the two 5W50 oils because I wanted to compare specs with the DT40 5W40 I’ve used for years.

I lived AZ for nearly 25 years, you really ought to be using the 5W-50. Especially since it's Porsche approved.

Are you talking about Mobil 1™ FS X2 5W-50?

As stated in my initial post, I have added Prolong Super Lubricant with my oil change for every car I've owned since 1988. This may have provided additional positive properties (one would hope).

I know that seems like proof positive, but I have run NO additives in any vehicle I have owned since 1968 and I have never had an engine issue in spite of running many over 100k. The exception is that about 2 years ago I added Ceratec and I've decided I won't even do that again.
