I think part of the reason why the tops on the 997 and later cars work so well is that the 997 in 2005 was designed with the cab structural challenges first, so that minimizing firewall-body articulation shake, engine torque load-offload, axle-suspension induced twist build up and let go, and harmonic resonances were already worked out. Then mounting a convertible top becomes easier, since the platform underneath it is stable enough to allow for tight sealing, sound isolation, etc.
=As far as how good the car is, wind wise, with the top down, this is a whole other area of excellence in my mind. The body lines certainly provide clean entry and exit of wind around the car.
Just got home to Seattle.
Having owned 3 previous 3.8 997's (05 997S, 07 997 C4S, 07 997S)I can honestly say I didn't notice any difference in the performance HP of the 3.6 engine compared to my previous S cars with the 3.8 engine. This is after driving 950 miles past 3 days.
Also don't notice any flex in the Cabriolet body.
One aspect of the car I really appreciate are the black gauge faces - I can't stand the white gauge faces and forgot the non-S cars have the black. Much better and remind me of the old aircooled gauge faces which are black.
I'll get some more photos this weekend.
Here's a photo of car in front of Winery Storage Tanks
Ericson38 here's another exterior and some quick interior photos. Nice having the full leather. Car also has Function First Short Shift Kit which is a must.
Herithe yee go.. I do thinke that if yee did live in the sames areas of the land as me, yee would indeed causeth me to shine meeh car more than I be ableth too at the presente tyme, but I shalle indeede trye more.
Congrats - looks great! Cabs are the best (6 months a year).
Enjoy.
Yeah it's like I've been brainwashed by a religion I talked poorly about. Finding the Cabriolet God after years of refusing help from above.
But seriously when I found this car I gave some serious thought to the fact I never drive my Porsche coupes in the rain and it they stay in Garage most of the winter. Not necessarily because of the weather but I'm not using my P-car much. We actually have lots of nice dry days during the winter these past several years.
I put about 2000 miles a year if I keep it that long .and mainly for dinners out or occasional local road trip.
I'm thinking of keeping it in my beach house garage but it would mean not having it handy when I'm here at home so re-thinking.
Other nice feature of Cabriolet and gimp knee is the ease of getting into the Cabriolet since there is no top in the way. I can hop in using windshield for support and slide down the seat.

That last pic is a different car, no? It’s got a licence plate on the front and the side markers are yellow.

;-).
Two different posters and two different cars....I think Ericson38 posted pictures of his car as it is very similar to the car just purchased by Groovzilla
Groovzilla, great symmetry in capturing the car/tank coloring and framing them perfectly. Phone snap or real camera? Guessing real camera but phones are pretty darn good these days. You could frame this one
Mine is Seal Grey, his is Silver. Otherwise same 3,6 engine, year model, transmission, both C4s. I have had this one since 2015, Groove just got his. We both like Lobster wheels (Carrera S 19 inch in 2006).
