Default Ice Hockey Goalie and a 911

So I'm considering upgrading from my Golf R to a 997 for a daily.

The only thing is I'm an avid hockey player. Both skating out and playing goalie. I know you can fit a player bag in the back or front seats. Could I fit my goalie equipment in a 997 as well?

Yes for the bag in the back esp if you remove the rear seats which is incredibly easy.

The smell however....

I play hockey 1-3 times a week. And I have a 997 Cab which doing parts of the year I could put the top down. I have a Grit roller bag which stands upright, and while I might be able to fit the bag, not sure how well I'd do at getting sticks in and out. At the end of the day it's just easiest and less abrasive on the car to use my SUV or my wife's Macan to go skate and not drive the 997. That said, if it was my only option, I suppose I might find a way to make it work.

FWIW when I got my 997 Targa last fall i had every intention of using it more as a daily. Once I had it and realized what a gem it is and how much I want to keep the miles down and keep the condition nice, I didn't get the snow tires. My plan was to have the 997 and Touareg for me and the wife to share. Now we added a third car to take pressure off the 997. These are pretty special cars. While I do put my golf bag in, (Targa hatchback helps with this) I could not imagine hockey sticks and bag

Actually, it might work in a targa where the back glass opens. Cab is too small in the rear seat area and putti G stiff in and out of the rear seat of a coupe would be tiresome. Look for a targa and make yourself some kind of pvc tube wrapped in matching interior color leather that you attach down the driver's side of the car that ends at the rear seat footwell area and you can slide the sticks into that through the open hatch and put the large gear bag in from there too. I say to put the stick tube on the driver's side because your seat is going to be further back than the passenger one and that leaves the whole passenger side open for access to the back seat for a small kid when you flip that seat up.

Go with a Targa or remove the passenger seat. Either option would be goalie appropriate (i.e. special/weird). I've had two non-goalie bags, sticks, and a teammate comfortably in my 996 Carrera. One bag in the frunk, other across the rear seats. Goalie bag won't fit in the frunk.

Edit: Ubiquitous goalies are weird comment.

Goal pads in the back seat area the rest of the gear in frunk. Sticks in the interior front to back along the center console.

I play hockey too (left wing) and my teammate is a radiologist also has a 997. He'll fill in as a goalie since there is a shortage of goalies w/gear. I found out he has a 997 when we were leaving and threw his gear bag and sticks behind the back seats. So to answer, yes it'll fit. It's not a truck or an SUV but it'll fit.

If you're hauling stuff there is nothing better than an SUV. I'd say Cayenne or Macan for a DD.

Are you solo? I was able to put my passenger seatback all the way back, almost laying down, and had 2 collapsed soccer goals in the front seat in my 996. The bags are like 50” long and fit no problem. One end of the bag is down in the footwell.

In other news, a surfboard fits inside a Cayman, and a tow hitch can pull a waverunner or a trailer full of track tires.
