Always best to buy from Private seller - Forget Dealer or Auctions. Prices ridiculously high and most Dealers & Auction cars cannot be inspected w/PPI & Bore Scope Inspection.

I'm not looking to buy from an auction...I'm just looking to see what the wholesale rate is right now in comparison to what people are asking for retail. There have been some aggressive markups and I like to have some facts to what reality may or may not be.

I understand your objective, but in approaching the reality of the situation, becoming better informed as to wholesale vs retail pricing is not going to provide you with one iota of additional leverage or control over cost / pricing of these cars - particularly when it comes to a desirable one.

A good car - one that is fully sorted out, has a good build, has been properly maintained - is going to require that the buyer pay for it. And a car like that is worth owning, and worth paying for.

About 18 months ago I was away from home and I was looking for a vette C7 manual z51. I already have a 997.2 and so I thought I'd get something different (and much cheaper). I was working with a dealer in Miami area who would send me Manheim results and cars for auction, and even zoomed live auctions with them, and bid live. This was just at the time used car prices were down for a short time then started going up, but still not crazy. The search went on for probably 2 months. There were simply no deals to be had. I ended up getting the exact car I wanted (LT3 white with full leather tan interior) Privately with a little more miles than I was hoping for but in great shape and with an actually valuable after market warranty. It was listed on FB marketplace and car gurus. I bought it sight unseen, but there were almost 200 pictures posted. I had it
Shipped from another state. Funny thing is that 30 minutes after calling a transport broker, a truck showed up at the sellers house and it arrived about 11pm that night.
