Default Found a killer shift ****

I've been wanting to swap out the shift **** that came in my 997.2 ever since I picked up the car a few months ago. It came with a wooden **** akin to the one in the Carrera GT. It was a very nice **** but the wood veneer just didn't go with anything else in my all black and grey interior.

I read through many threads on the subject and stumbled upon a 964 thread about a retro style **** made by WC Lathe Werks in New Jersey. https://www.lathewerks.com/porsche-9...shiftknob.html The style was exactly what I had in mind and meshed very well with the "modern-retro" vibe I'm leaning into with my 997.2.

I contacted the owner, Chris, and began a dialogue which resulted in me in ordering his "RL-Style Copolymer Sphere" with the following specs:
  • **** in black copolymer
  • Shortened shaft (the default length is more modeled for the 964 I think) in "Bead Blasted Satin Silver Finish". I was hoping this finish would closely match the volcano grey trim and it was damn near a perfect match
  • Custom "911" engraving with white fill
The **** arrived a few days ago and it is exactly what I was after. The copolymer material is not as temperature sensitive as metal ***** and the metal shaft has some weight to it so the feel as a whole is worlds more substantial than the all plastic OEM unit. It feels very securely attached and the style and design blends in perfectly with my interior.

Chris was extremely easy to work, responsive, and made a high quality product in the end.

I was not compensated whatsoever for this review, I'm simply a happy customer passing along my experience.

Looks great! I also did not like the multi-piece feel of the OEM shift **** and went to a much more solid feeling and ergonomic RUF one, which I really like.

You have to buy them directly from RUF. I bought 3 of them during my last visit to Germany when I visited the RUF facility in Pfaffenhausen. I sold the other 2 for enough of a premium to make the one I kept free.

Looking at their German website I no longer see them so maybe they're NLA. I know they had some issues with the supplier they were using in the past and why they no longer offer the carbon fiber version.

Sometimes one will pop up on ebay for $750-$1,000. That's the range I sold my other 2 in.

One grand for for a shift ****? That reminds me of this scene from Pulp Fiction:

LOL.

It's all about the economics model of supply and demand... and there's virtually no suppl, not unlike the current situation with MT GTSs.

Wow! I didn’t know he made these for the 997. I had one on my old Focus ST and loved it! Great craftsmanship and really great hand feel. If you like a weighted **** this is a great option.
