Default Made it back from Tennessee! Car is here! 2008 Turbo Cab

Flew down yesterday, the seller picked me up at the airport, took me to his house 15 minutes away, the car was waiting in the driveway. First time actually seeing it in person. Looked brand new. Checked it out, inside and out, very little signs of wear. Couple small things, but nothing bad, and nothing compared to the one I drove in MD that looked like total hell inside. Only thing we noticed that may need to be fixed is the one headlight washer was pushed in for some reason, maybe it got banged at some point, but he said he never has used them, and honestly didn't even realize it. Everything else really nice. He took me for a little local drive through a mountain road with the top down to check it out, loved it. He also left me EVERY receipt and record for the car since he had it, plus gave me the stock exhaust and headers, and the stock exhaust tips, since he got them all upgraded. Now it was Time to head out!!

First stop was Roanoke, VA, 4 hours away. Didn't take many fun roads, it was getting dark, and I was tired already from flying down. I 81 SUUUUUUUUUCKS though, every other vehicle was a damn 18 wheeler, and they take both lanes. Got to the hotel around 9:00, parked the car (little worried about the roof getting slashed...) but all was good. I had 3 people comment they loved the car on the first day. 2 at the gas station and the person who checked me in at the hotel.

Today was nice. 75 and sunny again, had the top down the whole ride, 7 hours. First stop was Shenandoah Park and Skyline Drive (See photos). Awesome road. First time there. Wow. Almost NO other cars too. Roads were so smooth too, looks recently paved, no debris, nothing. Twisties for 35+ miles, this car was DEFINITELY made for these roads. My S6 is fast as hell in a straight line, but cannot do these back roads anywhere close to this one. Headed out, stopped for a few more photos, off to MD, Delaware, and then finally PA. Got gas in MD, got another comment about the car being awesome while getting gas.

Highway felt fine, little rough with the car feeling every bump, and with the Tiptronic the RPMs were around 3k the whole time, so not the quietest car on the with the Europipe exhaust. Had a little vibrations in the seat on the highway, but didn't really notice it today, just yesterday. Maybe it was the roads. Steering wheel had no shake, nothing.

Got home today, and the main issue happened.... i cannot get into my driveway without scraping the front end!! It is angled, but not that much I thought!! When I backed out, same thing. Going to try to do it at a better angle, or maybe get an aftermarket lip on ebay that is a bit shorter. I will destroy this one if I scrape it when I go in and out every time!! Besides that, the car is great. The Apple Car Play upgrade helped a lot on the highway. Backup camera was nice too. It has the AL Priority Radar detector built in, gotta learn how that works. IF anyone has that installed, is there a way to stop the blue light from flashing all the time when it is on?? At night, it was really destracting.

Headlight washer will sometimes collapse down if the bumper gets deformed during a scraping situation.

On the .1s you just pop out the fog light, reach in and pop the washer back in place. Maybe it's similar on the turbo /.2 bumper

I was looking at that on Amazon today actually. My issue is when my rear hits the street, my front is scraping the driveway apron. I can get a photo of the spot tomorrow when it gets light out. I was checking a lot of those on Amazon, not sure if they will fit the area that actually is causing the issue. Maybe it will help flatten the rear end so the front won't be as angled though.... damn.

Congrats on the new purchase! The car looks spectacular in blue, especially with that background on Skyline Drive which is right in my back yard. Haven’t had a chance to take my 997TT up there yet but I will this Spring. Must have been great with the top down!

Car looks great. Love the color.

If you can back into the driveway, you'll eliminate the problem as the front tires will raise the lip up. I back into my driveway with most of my cars for this very reason. My 997 has a noselift on the front too, so that one can go in forwards with the press of a button, but I still usually back them in, just because they look better in the garage that way and it's easier to get them out, especially if there are other cars in the driveway at the time.

Congrats on finally getting her home! I think most folks would say getting a DSC controller would really smooth the ride out for you if you think it's a bit harsh

Congrats. I had the same problem the first time I brought mine home. Car was flawless then I scrapped it pulling into the driveway.

HEre is a quick pic of my driveway and the area that I scrape. I was able to take the entry at a steep angle and cut to the left when my front gets near the grass coming down the street turning left into the driveway. I was not scraping when I did that as long as I took it carefully and at a sharp angle. Still working on how to get OUT of the driveway when am backing out. I scrape when the rear tires hit the street and my front is still on the apron there. Getting better at going INTO the driveway at least without scraping, but damn, worse than I expected!! I have a feeling I am going to go through a dozen front lips in a year....

Car has been great though overall. I had to add a little oil (3/4 quart) the day after the 640 mile road trip though. I had the car inspected, no issues, and they saw zero signs of any actual oil leak, engine was clean. So far, so good! Gotten an insane amount of random compliments on the car too in the first few days, definitely an eye catcher.
