I have a Bovee 1000 which worked fine, however I was always annoyed that it takes up the entire armrest cubbyhole. So I just got one of these, it's been working great and I can still use the entire armrest for storage.

Do you all leave these devices plugged into the USB port while the car is sitting for long periods? If so, any concern about battery drain or are these so miniscule that it wouldn't matter?

The current draw is miniscule, if the car's your daily driver I wouldn't be concerned about leaving it plugged in. But if it's a weekend car like I have it for I always unplug it for peace of mind. These cars are finicky with batteries, why take the risk no matter how small.

Mine turns off after a period of time. I assume the USB port powers off when it times out. It turns back on if I open the door. This is a 997.2.
Looks like you're correct, I tested my USB port (997.2) and it does shut off power after a few mins. It shuts off soon after fully locking the car. However if I just close the doors without locking the car the power to the port stayed active. At least for about 10 mins that I was waiting, not sure then if it shuts off with the car unlocked and just takes a much longer time.
