Fabspeed Exhaust (manifolds, headers, exhaust and cats)
I am looking at a 2008 997.1 C2S PDK that had, when it was a young car, a Fabspeed exhaust (manifolds, headers, exhaust and cats). (It is the Sport Chrono Package Plus model; 74,000 miles).
1. Now, first, what would this exhaust set up do to the performance, given the stock 385hp, if anything?
2. I am assuming there must be some major sound difference over stock--or not?
3. Does Fabspeed stuff hold up over time?
4. Fourth, this is fairly early PDK--did the 2008 PDK have problems that later 997.2 don't have? Did they change it much?
Thanks in advance.

If the car is an '08 .1, it will have a Tiptronic rather than the PDK.

Happy to answer your questions!
1. It is always hard to tell exactly what has been installed previously when looking at a used car, but from what you have said, I assume it is our Full Performance Package. That Package will typically gain 45+WHP and similar torque, obviously, if the previous owner opted for the tune it will be progressively more.
2. The sound you will gain will be much more aggressive and refined. Truly how a Porsche should sound.
Lastly, Fabspeed has been the Global leader in Aftermarket Porsche Performance parts for 25 Years. All products come with a lifetime warranty!
Feel free to PM me if you have other questions!

With 74k miles, you'll want to get the (documented) specifics on the maintenance history of the car. It will be beneficial to understand the level of care that its had - as well as to understand what additional "catch-up" maintenance will be required.
The 997.2 has been a very reliable car.

I had the full FabSpeed intake and exhaust setup, as well as custom tune, on my 09 997.2S. I have been told it sounded great, especially at higher rpms. The shop that did the tune said it picked up 15 - 20 hp around 5000 rpms and you could feel some difference. I ended up selling it due to concern about the PDK. But, I have much lower risk tolerance than most.

I've had a full Fabspeed system on my 997.1 since 2012. Love it and no issues at all. The Fabspeed lifetime guarantee is now also transferable so it's not only to the original purchaser as it used to be. This changed a couple or a few years ago.

I picked up an 09 C2S PDK - similar mileage - this fall with almost a full fabspeed setup - it was just missing the sport cats. Added those shortly before I put her away for winter but I do really love the sounds it makes - especially at higher RPM with the windows down. Definitely a good setup that sounds like what I thought a 911 should sound like. There is some highway drone @ 2k-3k but I do very little driving like that... I can't give you a comparison to stock but it does sounds great. Fit and finish is outstanding. The previous owner had it on the car for around 4 years and still looks / functions great. I have not had any problems with it - no rattles, squeaks, etc.
