Found A 997.2 Turbo 2010 But w/ Fault Code(s)
Hi,
I am looking for advice if i should walk away from buying a 997.2 Turbo with 36K miles with the following fault codes. Carfax appears to be clean but had some dash console issue fixed in 2014. I took the Turbo and ask a local shop that maintains my 2002 BMW and he shown me these readout. I shown the owner and he was surprised that his local Porsche dealer never told him about when he takes it into service.
C102 - CAN single wire operation comfort
C131 - Communication gateway control unit
C152 - Communication PSM control unit (drive)
C158 - Communication control unit
C190 - Fault instrument cluster
8052 - Passenger compartment monitoring, communication
8033 refer to service manual
Are these signs of red flag that i should walk away? Asking price is $80K.
Thank you.

Communications seem to be fraught with errors. I had a Durametric on my 2010 C4S and cleared all the errors just to find I had a random batch of errors without even starting the car. I cleared the codes multiple times and saw the same random results. But in my 100K miles of stewardship I've never had a single problem with the car.
So from my experience I wouldn't worry. YMMV of course and others may give you different feedback.

I see errors like those all the time when I scan my 997s. I wouldn't walk away from a good car for these types of canbus and gateway communication errors as long as everything works. If the previous owner added anything aftermarket on the canbus you can get errors like that - things like a PCM replacement unit, bluetooth adapter, etc.
You can also get additional errors if you scan the car with the ignition switch in full accessory mode, but the engine not running - don't know why....so maybe ask the guy who scanned it if the engine was running when he did the scan.

I think these error codes are pretty common. I had to reset a whole bunch of hidden codes after changing the battery too just recently, like steering input sensor fault, pcm comm fault, adaptive head light fault..etc

Thank you all for providing feedback. I called the seller today and wanted to schedule a PPI but unfortunately, the owner already accepted an offer from another party Unhappy

The ultimate goal is to have a car that you are 100% happy with, and with zero regrets. You did the right thing in this case by asking about what seemed to you to be a concern. You missed this particular car but there will be others and you will find the right one.
