New 997 Owner few basic questions!!
Hey guys just bought a 2006 Carrera S covnertible, with 51k Miles on the clock, Had a few general questions about the car trying to see whats normal and whats not, 1: The shifter clicks or makes a popping noise when shifting into third gear sounds like its the actual Shifter not someone within the transmision, thats the first concern, Second concern ive noticed at highway speeds 75-80 mph ill get a slight vibration from the car i feel in my butt every 4-5 seconds drives smooth, Vibrates drives smooth vibrates is that normal with these cars?
3: my car had the radio replaced with an aftermarket and its causing horrible white noise through all the speakers so im looking to buy an OEM headunit for it to return it to stock, which one do i need? does it share the nav headunit with all the caymans and boxsters are they interchangable given its the right year? or is there a specific one for this car?
Thanks in advance.

Regarding 3.
If you'd actually like the functionality of Android auto/ Carplay and functional Bluetooth, consider checking the grounds and/or replacing the radio with something that provides you more functionality. The .1 radios do not have BT phone or music functionality unless you add an aftermarket box.
And please share a picture of your new car!!

Check the shift cables under the car where they secure into the mounts. They're known to pop out and the noise you hear may be the cable smacking the mount when the cable tension changes as you shift into 3rd. If they've poppe dout, when you snap them back in, wire tie them into place by going around the assembly in an X pattern to secure both cables to the metal holder.
Are you running any wheel spacers on your car? If so and they don't have the hubcentric flange on them where it measures exactly 71.6 mm (and I mean exactly), the wheel will move around on the bolt seats at high speed to create the kind of random vibration you describe. If it has spacers, remove them and see if it still does it - be mindfulnof the wheel lug not length if doing this because the bolts should be longer versions if running spacers and at the rear, a too long a bolt will destroy the parking brake assembly. If you don't have spacers, jack up each side of the car and loosen the lug bolts, then retorque them, making sure the bolt seats are mating perfectly with the wheel seat, so get all 5 bolts in evenly, then torque in a cross cross pattern doing about a 1/3 of the required torque on each pass, so about 35 ft. lbs, then 70 ft. lbs, then the final 118 ft.lbs. If you use anti-seize on the bolt threads (NEVER THE BOLT SEAT), then back the torque value down to 100 ft. lbs. instead.
As Gene said, there's probably nothing wrong with your aftermarket radio itself. That type of whining noise is almost always an improper ground to the head unit or the amplifier. I'd check that before going back to a stock PCM.
Congrats on the car and welcome to the forum.

Agree with both replies above regarding your question #3. It's a shielding issue and what you hear is transient noise produced by electrical charge. I had this discussion with one of the top tuner/Porsche indy in my region. He told me that almost all everyone of these models with aftermarket radios will have the transient noise when the motors are running. He only will install Porsche PCCM+ if the client wants an "update" to their infotainment system. I personally would rather listen to the symphony created by my 3.8.Boxer. Welcome and here's to many miles of smiles to come!
The vibration at high speeds could be that the wheels need to be balanced or the spacer issue mentioned above. Check when the last alignment was preformed, I would recommend every 15-20k miles or depending on how good your roads are.
