Default 911 997 Front and Rear Pads and Rotors change with 350mm upgrade DIY

Hey fellow 997 owners, I recently changed out my 997.1’s pads and rotors and wanted to share with you’ll, the DIY. In addition, I performed the “poor man’s BBK” to the “S”. This involved upgrading the 330mm rotor to the 997 Turbo’s 350mm by using small “brackets”.
It’s not a difficult job to do at all. As long as you have basic tools, a caliper retractor, as well as torque wrenches, you’ll be good to go!

Feel free to post up if you have any questions or feedback on how I could have done a better/easier job. Sub to my channel is you haven’t already and thanks for the support!

Perhaps an Admin can post as a sticky in the DIY?

Hi,

I watched your video but without sound (at work ^^)

Could you tell me where you found the spacers and studs or their specs (lenght... ) because it might be easier to fabricate them.

To you use some special pads or the original one ?

That might be a cheap nice mod to do when the disk are used, for me it is more for a better look than for heat because I think that our small 330mm rotors doesn't look that well in big wheels (I run 19s on my 997.2 base carrera)

I totally love the look of the 718 with big rotors and callipers.

Nice video, thanks for taking the time to go into detail on the installation. I did the upgrade over a year ago and absolutely love it.

There is a rennlist member @Flewis763 who makes them as well. He sells them on ebay.

Here is another forum discussing them.

All the threads and listing on ebay seems to be for the S versions... What is the difference for a non S mk2 ?

Caliper size for S car I believe is larger overall than a base car 997.1?

Am I tripping?

Yes but I think that .2 non-S calipers are bigger that .1 non-s calippers so maybe the size is OK for conversion ?

As regards the existing sticky for 997 DIY/Tech articles: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ech-index.html

You can simply post your video there, doesn’t require an Admin to help.

Karl.

For sure mk2 calipers are not reverse compatible with mk1 and non-S to S isn’t compatible, nor are 2 to 4 cars hence using the standoffs to raise caliper to “fit” the larger rotor. A solution in search of a problem......I would trust that setup but yes you have a different look now. YMMV for sure.
