The OEM pulley is made of cast aluminum and only weighs 12oz. But it has no harmonic dampener at all. Coming from performance VW/Audi background, I'm a big believer of harmonic dampener. 2lbs of rotational weight is worth it to me.
I also put the center console back in to change things up a bit.
So now the updated total weight saving is 171 lbs.

Some Q's
Are you using the OEM seatbelt receivers?
How are you able to get them up so high?
What seat rails are you using?
Where did you purchase the ABE seats and how much are they?

Those are the GT3 bucket seat receivers. They are longer than the standard seat belt recovers. I got them from Suncoast. https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/9X7BUCKLE.html

The seats are mounted to the car with the BBi seat base. It's a complete system with base adapter, rails, side mount for the seats and mounting tabs for the seat belt receivers or harness. https://flat6motorsports.com/product...9942e89e&_ss=r

I purchased the seats from this eBay seller. https://www.ebay.com/itm/RECARO-POLE...4AAOSwoI5dJEWT
He's a very reputable seller and ships from Germany directly.

There is big weight savings by swapping out the front doors with GT3 or Turbo aluminum doors. But, it is a bit of work and $$$ as well.

Of course, then I added a roll cage back in, which probably added another 50 pounds back.
This is an awesome thread and I'll be following your future changes!

Also, which wheels and spec are these on the Lizard Green 997 Halo?

Hey Shock,

The front wheels on the pic above were 19x8 et45 Victor Innsbruck, with 245/35/19 snow tires. They were just on there while we dealt with fitment issues on my Breytons with 265s up front. If you look closely, you can see they are a different style than the rear.

The final wheel spec on the car is

265/30/19 Front
19x10 et40

325/30/19 Rear
19x12 (final ET to be determined - will likely be around ET46)

Wheels are Breyton forged GTSR-PF

Just to note, the wheel spec on my car is not going to be something that can necessarily be applied to a normal 997. I have 25mm wider front Cargraphic fenders up front, which allow extra clearance. Also, I have the RSS Tarmac suspension kit, that allows increased adjustment of camber, etc. On top of that, we have had to do extensive modification to the wheel well liners to get the required clearance with the 265s up front. It has been a royal pain to get them to fit with the et40 offset, to be honest.

Nice build, I’ve seen 19x10 with a 42mm et (265/30/19) on the front of a 997 and 996gt3 with no mods. I would think with your wider front fenders you could go even wider

Cargraphic said that up to a 285/30/19 would fit on 19x10 et40. However, my guess is that the cars running anything wider than a 265 arent using fender liners. Even with 265/30/19, we had to have the fender liner modified to add clearance, as the tire was making contact when turning. We also removed the TPMS box from behind the liner, so the liner could be heated and add more clearance. The car will be driven on the street, so I wanted to keep the fender liners.

I had heard people say what you said, about a 265, so I didnt expect any issues. But it ended up being a lot of extra work, and I had to go through 3 different tires up front until I found one that cleared everything inside the wheel well.

Which tires did you end up with?
michelins tuck in well where pirellis tend to be more square and cause you to increase ride height to get them under

great thread - where did you get the leather armrest cover with deviated stitching? interior looks great with the lower console back in.

i was going to suggest exhaust. That reduces weight over the rear where the car is already too heavy, improves performance, and sound.

Other possible options.....remove the sunroof motor, rear deck lid motor, sound deadening for rear shelf.

The armrest cover was already in the car car when I purchased it.

Yup, exhaust system is planned. I know a guy that's very good at fabricating titanium exhaust systems. I will have him make a complete custom titanium exhaust system for the car as a highlight along with forged magnesium wheels.

For whatever reason, the 265/30/19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires I had were HUGE mounted on the 19x10 wheels. I lined them up against a set of 255/40/19 winter tires I had on a 19x8, and they were something like 2 inches wider. Also, they had a very squared off corner, which was the part that was rubbing.

I swapped them out for a pair of Firehawk Indy 500, which worked perfectly with a much rounder edge profile.

@halo777 Do you know how much weight can be saved with the aluminum doors? The number I once saw was 30lbs, but it wasn't verified.

I'm also curious about this if halo weighed the aluminum vs. steel. Porsche claimed 33lb. (with the fabric strap inside handle and solid armrest)

and the GT2RS/GT3/R/Spyder Al. doors were interchangeable with reg doors in the 987/997 models

No, I never actually did the aluminum doors myself. All the weight reduction info I got when building my project car was mainly from a few threads on 6speedonline.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...g-build-3.html
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-thread-6.html

And there is further info on 996 door weight in Powdrhounds thread below
