Default Painting IPD Plenum?

Anyone done it? I am getting to the point where I think I am ready to start modding by 997.1 S but living in California, I am concerned about certain mods. Wondering if anyone has painted their IPD black with some high-temp paint to give it more of a stealth look. Thanks!

After we perform our mods to these, and weld/ grind/ whittle on them we sometimes paint them. I use Duplicolor low gloss black ceramic engine paint. It works very well, and doesn't make our mods look quite so Frankenstein.

This is helpful. I was thinking of grinding off the branding as well, just to make it look a bit more plain.

They have to really look hard to spot it but if they're poking around down there and see the logo, it'll give it away over the black paint. Since 2005 and newer get the OBDII check and Porsche's don't come by often for smog, they might not even notice it.

If you are taking it off to paint it why not just put the stock one on? And swap them back. It’s a pretty easy job.

I’m don’t disagree but figure might as well put a little work into it if I have the time. I’ve had some pretty incredible smog inspection experiences but also many boring and quick ones.

I haven’t installed anything. This would be done prior to installation so I don’t have to disassemble and reassemble every two years. I’ve owned enough modified cars and am now tired of the take off/on routine every two years. If I can avoid it, I’d like to.

I prefer powdercoated to paint, as it holds up a lot better. For something in the engine bay, yiu can use a higher temp cerakote type powder, but don't overheat it during curing since it's on aluminum.

I typically do too, but then I’m also relying on the powdercoater not to eff it up, and sometimes that’s not worth the risk.
