Need a better description than "clutch would not work". Like, pedal doesn't move in and out, car won't try to turnover with the clutch in and key turned to start position, clutch won't disengage the transmission?

The clutch pedal depressed to the floor ... would not move until I replaced the dead battery .... started car waited for everything to adjust ....I reached under the clutch pedal and pulled to the position it always is ....
’the clutch worked fine ..... Is the hydraulics (for want of a better word) for the clutch or what controls the clutch somehow connected to the battery or the electrical system and will not work until dead battery is replace

The clutch shares the same fluid as the braking system. If there was no pressure left in the brake booster from sitting for a while, I guess it's possible that the clutch system could be effected by that, but have never had that happen personally, even when my battery was disconnected. Usually the clutch pedal getting stuck down is an early indicator of a failure of one or more fingers of the pressure plate in the clutch assembly.
