Ignition control module ordered.
So this morn I ordered a new key ignition control module. Have had a few starting glitches and have determined module was the issue. I did a brief search on youtube but did'nt get my answer. Is this a plug and play replacement or is there any programming to be done? Will my existing key work?
2006 C2 base. Thanks.

Sometimes it does not click when you insert the key, then it will take several try's {usually 3} in a row to start the car. Almost like a dirty connection inside the module. The winter is worse. replace the clutch switch as well just to be on the safe side.
Mine does not show the "depress clutch pedal on dash" but still getting a clutch switch. Previous owner warned me about it when I bought the car.

Yup. Mine does that from time to time. As well as my buddies.
what are you doing with your old module? If you are just going to junk it I would pay shipping to my address to try and diagnose.

I'm not sure. I would like to disassemble it myself and have a look. I was able to disassemble the switch on my NSX way back. It was really dirty inside..
Exactly, the key hole in the ignition switch module is really just decoration, the switch detects the chip in the key, not the key shape. It passes that information to the ECU and if there is a match then this releases the immobilizer, and further turns then start the engine etc.
So it is basically a keyless entry system except you still need the key to open the door.
Good luck with the install, I understand that is a good case for a swear box as you fiddle the old one out and the new one in

I did replace the battery earlier but swapped again just now. Seems to behave the same way, the occasional miss, having to reinsert the key a couple of times.
Maybe it's the electronics inside the key?
