I'll have to see if I can reference any comparison test data - aFE vs BMC.

Again, I'm not worried about the oil issue. (This is based on referencing the technique that Petza914 uses to re-oil his filters - which seems to make good sense.)

Reoil them correctly and expect no issues. It's interesting to hear them applied to turbo vehicles as there is a clear difference in sound. There's a reason they are OEM on the GT3 RS and 918: http://www.bmcairfilter.com.au/porsc...assembly-line/

Are you referring in the comment above to the BMC filters?

Big fan of the AFE Pro Dry filter. They are basically the same as indoor air purifiers with reusable filters... good enough for my lungs, good enough for my engine. That said, if you drive on a lot of dirt roads or go for top speed pulls on dry lake beds, you might want to stick with the disposable paper filters just for the convenience of tossing those things regularly.

As far as maintenance, they sell a cleaning kit / fluid but I just did mine with a light vacuum and then followed up with some diluted APC and gentle rinse with water from the inside out, let it dry naturally and it was great to use the next day. Personally I like being green with reusing them and I also clean them annually which is a lot more frequent than I might with paper filters which are supposed to be replaced every 4 yrs / 40k miles.

What is wrong with the stock filters? You gain nothing but reuseability with these things and cleaning is a pain. Its not like the filters are too small or overly restrictive

Did you happen to notice any visual degradation of the filter media after the cleaning? Thanks.

Looking closely in IMSA paddocks Ive seen Porsche race cars run BMC filters - many of the RL GT3 guys run BMC - lots of research on extra HSP running BMC, KN filters is negligible at best but probably does better job cleaning the air. I ran BMC that I bought from Fabspeed few years ago when I had my 997.1 GT3 and honestly could not tell difference but the GT3 is already such a beast stock it would take way more than a filter to notice a change.

Do you "off-road" your 911 much?? if not, then the extra air flow is worth a few HP. They aren't made of screen door material and are well used on the track (where there is crap flying everywhere, hence the need for cleaning frequently; duh!) And, if good enough for a big $$ race motor, good enough for me. And, never use and oiled filter of any kind, period. Always Dry!

I have BMC filters on both cars, no issues. Good for a few HP and some additional noise.

Noticed that Sharkwerks sells them as part of a broader "Power kit" for the 997.2. Seems like Sharkwerks wouldn't sell them if they were bogus...

I see the advantage of them being reusable....

(I understand the perils of over-oiling them. I've read some past posts that there's a good way to prevent that however. So - not too concerned about that.)

I have them. They are nice & easy to clean.
