Plus the OEM short shifter is significantly less expensive.....
There is a video of a Porsche mechanic talking about this somewhere here, stating how close and tight the Numeric shifter is. Running this on the track would open the possibility of inadvertently hitting first gear. He stated the GT3 shifter was a great option.
You will always run a higher risk of mis-shifting when you use a short shifter.... that's just the nature of the beast. Although isn't the Numeric Shifter unit fully adjustable so you can maintain the same gear to gear distance as OEM?

If you want another option for more of a OEM ++ option this is what I did:

I have the OEM 997 Short Shifter and it was decent but still had slop and play.
Ordered the Function First Shift Right solution and installed it myself.
HUGE upgrade in feel and response but still smooth.
Then I installed the Function First Cable Ends and I have to say it transformed the drive 100% now.
ALL the slop is gone and shifts are totally precise and short.
But still easy to drive.
I stuck with my original cables since I am a 997.2 an not as concerned about them snapping.

Before you pull the trigger on a Numeric please try it out in someone else's car.
I did that and knew right away it wasn't for me.
Just too mechanical and the rifle bolt feel while great for the track would annoy me on a daily driver.
It's just too aggressive and noisy,

The Function First mods on the OEM 997 shifter is amazing and I've had several other 997 friends feel it and were blown away.

Another cheaper route is the Phenix Engineering bushing swap.

I don’t have Fister mufflers or the gundo mod so I can’t comment.

Yes. There are three adjustment positions and the third position is very close to stock throw, if not identical. I find the middle position to be the Goldilocks position.

I'm going this route. FF Shift Right kit is sitting in the garage, hoping to take out the OEM SSK and swap parts some time next week or two.

Got price of GT3 shifter, 2010 version.
$718. Different part number from the C2S but identical diagram on Porsche parts department computer

I gave the parts department guy the vin # of my 2010 997.2 C2S. He stated I had the Porsche Short Shifter in my car, installed from factory. It certainly doesn’t feel like a short shifter!

My sales guy took me out to look at the new GT4. It had the same shifter as the Speedster. I’m not sure I like it. They are really “notchy”. Rifle bolt like. If that is the way the Numeric Racing Shifter is, I’m thinking my short shifter is something I can live with. With mine, fast shifts are super easy and positive.
First world problem: I will suffer with my Porsche short shifter.

I have a stock 997 c2s that I daily drive and I’m thinking about getting FF. I tested a friend’s numeric and liked it but felt it’s a bit loud and rigid for daily use, a lot of times in traffic. Am I ok to add the shift right solution and cable ends to the stock shifter? Or do I also need to get the Porsche short shift kit like you did to get the short throw and mechanical feel?

I did the OEM SSK with the FF SRK mod (installed by Luka, the founder/inventor/owner of Function First.)

No cables/ends mods- just kept my 20K-mile OEM parts.
Ended up with the same setup as @Recruiter_Bruno , except no new cable ends- which are a PITA DIY or a not-unsubstantial labor cost to farm out. (The cable-end mod is to prevent a failure, not change shift feel/precision or tighten up any slop, IIRC.)

The NVH issues with non-OEM ends and cables is well documented- though many accept the trade-off in a sports car. Like the Numeric box, best try one out before pulling the trigger on something you might regret after the fact.

Tight, precise and butter smooooth.
Shifts are executed with wrist, no shoulder lift from seat back required for the odd-numbered gears.
Sublime.

OEM 997 GTS on left. OEM SSK + FF SRK on right (That's a installation guide on the right side of the mod'ed shift lever, which is removed after install, see picture #2):

Luka charged me an extra $50 to install the SRK I bought from him, and had Suncoast send the OEM SSK to him for the install.

Labor was $390 to install the modded box:
