I’m doing some early on research on a possible future 997 purchase. Which 997 models are available…….

WITH: wide-body, NA engine, PDK, sport adaptive seats, chrono, and PASM

WITHOUT: IMS issues

Any drive (RWD or AWD) would be acceptable at this point.

Assuming we aren't talking about GTS, GT3 or GT2...
- Wide body will only be your "S" models.
- Normally Aspirated stopped in '16 with the 3.0 turbo.
- Practically no IMS issues after about 2006 (though depending on who you ask, Bore Scoring is the new boogeyman).
- PDK started in '09, so if that's a deal-breaker, 997.2 and subsequent models.

So it sounds like you need between an '09 and '16 S or 4S. Of course, I'm new here so I may have mis/understated some of the above.

WITH = 997.2 4S Carrera 4 & GTS & GTS 4 2009-2012 I might be forgetting Targa models also

WITHOUT IMS = 2006 & on however this does not meet your WITH requirements

I thought the 4 and 4S models were wide body and all others narrow on the 997?

Understood. I thought the IMS problem was addressed by Porsche at some point. I was hoping that would coincide with the release of the PDK/997.2 (2009 & onward).

997 wide body are the 4 and 4S which are AWD
The GTS is wide body and RWD

If I read correctly {its been awhile} sometime in 2005 Porsche started using dual row IMS bearings. But those are still prone to failure, but not as often. Do some research.

PDK means 2009 and up 997.2 and 2010 for turbo if I recall correctly.

Not only does the .2 not have an IMS it has like 40 percent fewer parts too. The only way to get a wide body is the gts, 4 wheel drive models including the targa and turbo. The only way to to get a RWD wide body car is a gts.

Not quite... dual row was early 996 986 years.

IMS Dual Row bearing 1998-early-mid 2000. rumors claim very small chance of failure. 2-4%

IMS "Small" Single Row bearing "boogey man" 2001-2005 rumors claim 7-10% chance of failure.

IMS LARGE Single Row bearing "the fix" 2006-2008 rumors claim 1% chance of failure.

2009-2012 new engine design No more IMS bearing.

You're right. No IMS as of -09 and that was also the first year of the PDK. So for for 997 NA wide bodies, 2009-2012 , 4, 4S, both GTS versions (only 2011 & 2012) and the Targa versions. The GT3 RS is NA and wide body but wasn't offered with PDK unless I get all this confused.
