Not sure if this applies to 997s, but I know a bunch of the Evo guys messed with their throttle bodies only to discover there's some factory gunk on the plate that ensures it's sealed when in the closed position. If you remove that, you're stuck with a leaky throttle body which causes all sorts of driveability issues.

there is nothing on the factory plate. The motor cycles backwards to seal completely and it’s also how you perfectly center the plate before tightening the fasteners.

I bought a junkyard TB off eBay for this DIY too.

@Bruce In Philly this is the transition I am talking about. It’s looking good.

Alright. The good news. It works great! No codes, idle is perfect, trims are good.

the bad news- it straight up whistles at 20% throttle. I mean it whistles lol.

would be fine for a race car.

Well -- nothing ventured nothing gained. You certainly are due some credit for the attempt.

Just to update - So I actually smoothed it out a little more and popped it back in. No more whistle and it does feel like it picked up some throttle response.

That's great DIY, and you guys seem to be getting the right results too. We do these too, in case you want to skip the work and have them optimized. We do this of all TB sizes, including the GT3, we optimize and increase from 82mm to 86mm. Please visit our site or search our threads here.

Hmmm, do people use your GT3 with the IPD Plenum?

It can be used wherever there is the GT3 throttle body hole pattern and bore diameter to receive it. Or, if the plenum has the 74mm TB hole pattern and bore, you can use our Adapter Kit in between the plenum and our GT3 TB.

So we could bolt the improved GT3 TB right to the C2S plenum? I wonder how the gains compare to a full IPD plenum GT3 throttle body upgrade (is it the plenum or the throttle body that provide the biggest gain)? I guess looking at it someone could start with just the TB and if they wanted to try the IPD plenum would only be out the adaptor plate cost.
