What do 997.2 GTS X51 Headers Look Like...Mine look jumped on
hi everyone
i was examining the underside of my 2012 GTS.
i was dismayed to see that the headers (the part I can see closest to the ground) were not mandrel bent and looked crimped in many places.
I haven't bottomed out the car.as far as I know.
they look like the sand cast headers on the standard 911's of the era.
i thought the x51 headers were made of individually welded runners and would not look like they have been stomped on.
or am i confusing them with the GT3 factory headers?
such a shame how the intake side looks so beautiful just to skimp on headers.
any thoughts guys?

Must have a pic, otherwise it's pointless. I know for sure 997.1 X51 header was much nicer, but not sure what they did in 997.2. I think more work went into .1 X51 than .2, so header might be one of those.
Yep, OEM headers, very complex hydro formed tubes, balancing internal volume, flow efficiency, access to fasteners, thermal stress, resistance to fatigue, and the need to squish them up into the space they have been allowed. Beautiful/Ugly.

GTS exhaust headers are the same as C2S. Exhaust headers were not an upgrade part in the X51. Just the ported intake header along with other bits and bops.
so i see that instead of a 3 into 1 right away (Carrera/Carrera S) there are three separate runners that merge into one.
it is possible there are dents.
i guess this is why people do stainless/ceramic coat.
cheers
fat_lou X-51 headers???

Interesting. The X51 kit gen 2 has not x51 headers? Is this correct? I did not know. Anyone that has a x51 WHO can compare sound with an ordinary pse. I had a 4s gen 1 with x51 and all sport options in the list. That sound was far from the pse gen 1. I changed to a gen2 but miss that sound bad.

Gen. 1 sounds better in general, it's due to different engine, and diff exhaust altogether. I never like the .2 sound. Also, from what I've seen the .1 X51 was more of an upgrade with much more bits and parts than .2 X51.

Sound much better but more fragile. I need to dig in the pet tomorrow and look at the exhaust.
Slightly off topic but has anyone in California gotten dinged at a smog check for aftermarket headers? From these pictures, the aftermarket stuff doesn't look terribly different than stock. I can't imagine most smog techs knowing the difference between the factory standard headers, the X51 which would also be 50-state certified, and the Fabspeed, for example.

Mine looks the same too.
I'm joining the question - anyone know if GTS and S have the same header?
How does the FABSPEED 200CELL HJS compare to the original header? Thoughts
