I got my PDK serviced a few weeks ago (60k service) and I've noticed it drops into 7th at around 70mph on the highway even when I'm in Sports mode (and auto). I vaguely recollect it would max out in 6th prior to the service..but maybe not? 997.2 GTS....

Bug or feature? (and yes, I do keep it in Auto and even (gasp) use cruise control once in a while).

If I recall correctly, in Sports Plus it will not shift into 7th (except maybe at top speed). I think in Sports it will shift to 7th.
However I almost exclusively use the paddles so I could be wrong...

Did you get a PDK Firmware update?

When cruising on the highway in Sports Mode (auto), mine will eventually go into 7th.

I only use Sport-Plus in manual mode.

7th is accessed in Sport, not in Sport+.
The speed at which it is accessed depends on the rate of acceleration, I think.
It varies but not below 70, however
7th can be accessed manually in Sport.

Normal & Sport Mode(auto or manual) - Gears avaliable: 1-7
Sport Plus (auto or manual mode) - Gears available: 1-6

7th is only locked while out in Sport Plus for the PDK because it is purely an overdrive gear for economy and not actually required to hit top speed.

I seem to recall (about 1800 miles and a few months separated from my 997.2S) that it will drop into 7th eventually, but will do it even faster if you're in Sport, with Cruise Control on. Tune CC of, and it drops right out of 7th.

Same here. Eliminates all the stupid shifts the auto mode thinks is just right that people complain about. Also brings things closer to a true manual since you rather than the car decides when to shift. I also use the gear lever as opposed to the paddles to bring it closer to the manual feel. Not the same I hasten to say but closer (and a lot faster ).
