Default quick R888R/tire suggestion question

I got my e88's 2 seasons ago with brand new r888r's on them just so I can try and run a 305 tire in the back

I drove on them only in summer, no track days, have about 4k miles total on the setup

first winter I took the wheels off and stored inside, 2nd winter I left them on the car - and it spend winter in an unheated garage

quick questions - what kind of signs can I look for on these tires to see if there is any use of them - being that we had a few sub 0 temp days

or not worry at all?

and also looking for general tire suggestion

fronts are 18x9 and rears are 18x12

something in a 245/40/18 and 295/30/18? my car is a 2007 Carrera 2 and I only drive it in warm nice weather, try to avoid rain *mostly because of R888R's*

The tires simply getting cold doesn't matter, it's how they are used when cold and/or heated upon use. Make sure they are "warm" before you start rolling around on them, probably need to be 40-50* F. Otherwise you may get cracking.
(My experience from use with motorcycle slicks)

When I got my 2006 C2S in 2018, the tires were still the OG tires from 2006.
The car is 100% a SoCal car but that is pretty old for tires on a sports car.
Even on the test drive, I noticed the tires felt hard. They also felt kind of "chalky."
IDK if that is the right word but kind of like hard rubber that would slip in a way than softer rubber that would maybe get sticky.
I also noticed if you did a hard acceleration, it was easy to get the car to break loose but not predictably almost like it would hit a little bit of a sticky part, then a hard chalky part, and back again.
Looking at the tires, they looked good though. They did have 15k on them but they looked solid. It was more how they acted even in normal driving situations (like a test drive and then a couple weeks of waiting for PS4S tires to arrive). The fronts felt inconsistent also like they might understeer if pushed in the same choppy way the rear felt under hard acceleration. As a result, I was kind of wondering if I made a mistake getting the car but I liked everything else about it. Once I got the PS4S on, I realized it was 100% the 2006 tires, and I immediately fell in love with the car. All those feelings went away and I was just enjoying the fresh PS4S and my new car.
This isn't helpful to your question but my point to you is in mentioning how nice the 12 year old tires looked. Someone spent a lot of time keeping them real nice. I could not see any issues with them visually but it was pretty clear that they were date coded out once you drove on them even if you did not know to change tires prior to the car's 12 year anniversary.
I want to give a shout out to the 2 people who kept the car all nice in a garage for me before I got it.
Thank you!!

guess once it warms up I'm just going to take it out for a spin and hope all goes well

I just don't really know what to expect out of a tire like r888r after it sat in cold all winter, going to look for cracks etc but I'm not even sure if there is a point if they can crack … ?

Toyo recommends that the tires be stored in areas not subject to temps less than 15 degrees.
This is typical with R comps; they should not be exposed to freezing temps as they tend to crack.

This. This is exactly what a slick would do under the same circumstances.
