Upgrade to heated wheel?
Hi all,
So I have done some google snooping, and have yet to come to a definitive answer on doing an upgrade.
What I have: 2009 C4K with heated seats, and MF wheel.
I want to add the heated wheel. What I have learned is it looks like I need to get a wheel with a heated strip, and a new clock-spring. What I am not sure of is if I need a wiring harness for my column to power the heated function...Does anyone have an answer to this? I don't want paddles, I prefer the PDK buttons, so that is not a hurdle that needs to be dealt with.
Thoughts?

Weird, mine has the opposite issue where it's annoyingly too warm. Though, I'm not driving a convertible, so that may be part of it. It's only ever turned on if I park outside in the cold/sub-freezing temps, and then about a minute later, I turn it off.

I have a car port, so about 2-3 months a year it would be a nice thing to have. I get spoiled when driving my wife's Jeep. Never thought I needed it till I had it.

I can't answer the technical questions you have asked, but I can tell you that the heated steering wheel in my '09 C2S Cab works great - and I really like it a lot. It's definitely worth having.

I don't know the answer for you, but I can tell you when I went to install heated seats into my non-heated seat equipped 997 that the wiring from the control panel (which I replaced to one that had the buttons for heated seats) to the seats themselves does not exist. On the passenger side I could access the terminals under the seat and applying 12v to them warmed the seat, but on the drivers side, the entire wiring scheme is different and what I came to find out is that Porsche doesn't use the same wiring harness in all the cars and just different switch panels for the different options, they actually use custom wiring harnesses for the options ordered. I eventually abandoned the project and have a nice 997.1 HVAC panel with heated seat switches sitting in a box and a cold butt. The steering wheel harness could be the same or it could be different and if different, you need to see what harness feeds that, as it could be the same or different.
Good luck.
Good luck.

It would surprise me if the wiring harness isn't there since you already have a mf wheel. To my knowledge the heated wheel option was only available on the MF wheel.
And I love my heated wheel so much in the winter, I don't think I will buy another car without it.

I can’t tell you what’s involved, but if it’s as complicated as most Porsche changes, it is likely very very expensive and complicated. I have it on my GTS and my wife has it on her Cayenne S. We both love it and it is in my opinion, at factory sticker, the best value of any Porsche option.

i think all mf wheel are heated does it have the button on it, anyway, you have to add a short harness in the wheel hub to connect the pins to the wheel, its all in the parts catalogue at the dealer

I have it and never use it. Just get some good driving gloves that are touch screen compatible.

I have it. I changed to a MF wood/leather with heat from the standard leather with heat but without MF. However, my car came with heated steering wheel option when it was built. I use my heated steering wheel all the time as the weather in NJ gets cold. The wood gets nice and toasty warm and really fast (as long as I fasten the seat belt or it won't turn on).
