Thanks for the input. I was aware that many people say they get dirty fast, but that is a problem I am willing to accept and deal with. I am leaning towards doing it. I have always loved colored seat belts, but never had a car that was "cool enough" to pull it off. I feel like sea blue interior + yellow would be a really nice combo. Everything is so blue in the interior and exterior that I think the splash of color would be welcome and not over done.
I have red calipers so I did red belts and gauges. Wish I had your yellow PCCB calipers where I would have done yellow belts and gauges. Subjective topic as with everything involving colors.
I totally agree w/ sandwedge. I would set my goals towards both. I added the red gauges after I installed my red belts. If you do consider doing your belts look up the DIY on it and save yourself some time & money. Very easy to do & I am not mechanically inclined.
I am contemplating adding yellow seatbelt to my 997. My car is cobalt blue with yellow pccb calipers and the interior is sea blue. Some days I think this would look awesome and others days I feel like it might be too "loud". looking for opinions to sway me one way or the other.
I have yellow seat belts and also use a shoulder pad to keep finger prints and grime off the belts. My car is speed yellow and all dials are speed yellow as well and a good match for my color combination. No regrets with lighter seat belts. Attached are 2 photos
Ok well after toying with the idea for a year I went ahead and did it. I'm still on the fence if I am loving it or not.
I like it! I think you may still be on the fence because it's the ONLY thing of color in the cabin...try as some others have suggested and grab some mats with matching yellow trim, or all yellow, to break it up and match the belts. Looking good!
I may be biased (as I have them as well) but I think they look great!
And they do clean very easy.
I got blood all over the drivers side once and using Sonax Alcantara cleaner with one of those motorized spinning brushes (like a mini drill) the stains came out 100% in minutes.
And I used Safety Restore as well not Porsche OEM.
Very reasonable price.
Last summer did the rears to match the fronts.
More work (especially for a 6'0 tall guy) but worth it in the end.
I agree they look great. I also agree one other spot of yellow would be great, like the stitching/logo on your floormat - but don't go crazy with a bunch of yellow pops all over the place!! You don't need painted vent slats...
Just as an FYI linked to the general topic of seat belt customization - and perhaps other interior mods, I happened to come across a guy in the UK that specializes in doing custom interior work. This includes doing "re-webbing" of seat belts in custom colors and treatments.
He also does some really nice looking custom interior mods for Porsches (and other European cars) - steering wheels, center consoles, armrests (with custom embossing and laser engraving - on leather and Alcantara.)
Judging from photos I've seen, his quality meets or exceeds OEM quality.
Here are a few photos of some of the stuff he offers. Just below are links to his business in the event anyone may have interest...
If you're not happy with the colors Porsche offers, he may have something you like He takes existing seatbelt units and replaces the webbing with new / custom ones He does steering wheel work and other reupholstery BMW M Colors He does custom leather and leather stitching work. This armrest has custom embossing that he can do.
