Default Exhaust smudge-best way to remove

Quick question. I own a 2007 C4S-white. I’m getting quite a bit of exhaust discoloration on the paint back side near exhaust pipes. Wondering what this group has used with best results for removal of this “smudge”. Thanks ahead of time for the advice!

You can use an iron remover, like Iron-X. Perhaps a few other products will work. Just make sure you put some protection back as these stronger products will strip the wax.

Cw.

Also make sure you apply Iron X OUTSIDE! It is extremely pungent and lingers quite long.

a few weeks back I cleaned my wheels with it outside in the driveway and brought the car back into the garage and it smelled for at least a week. It does work very well thought.

Yeah I was wondering if just a wax would pull this off. Less caustic than Iron X. Thx

I used some FW1 cleaner wax that I bought from a random guy at a gas station. Too harsh to use as a true wax on the car, but does a great job taking off exhaust muck, road tar etc.

P21S Paintwork cleanser = ideal solution.

Any carbons based solvents will work properly but also with wax. Thé right method is applying carbons based solvents like WS and reshap the original protection with any waxy based protective. The lightest it is the best it is...water based ones should be banned.

Mother's paint cleaner is cheap and works great. Use it to easily take the smudge off and apply a coat of wax immediately after.
