Yes. That was original paint.

Are you sure your car wasn’t a Dodge Dart? The slant six is a Chrysler engine. The six cylinder in my ‘72 TR-6 is upright.

If you’re talking about my pics in the 3rd post, then yes, it was Seven Lakes Drive. Very scenic!

Coupes are overrated! 😁

Just saw a 2020 992 Cab C4S at the LA Auto Show today, I hadn't seen one up close before. Porsche did a beautiful job with the cab top, when the top is up the lines are getting awfully close to that of the coupe. Pretty impressive. Seems to still have the same blind spot issue we have in our 997 cabs.

I was underwhelmed by the Taycan 4S which had it's global debut at the show. It was nice but looked sort of like a small Panamera and cheap inside IMO. Also saw the C8 Corvette with a demonstration of the hardtop convertible, which was very impressive. When the top is up you wouldn't know it's a convertible and the speed to switch is fast, just a few seconds.

Lol, one of my best friends had a 1965 Dodge Dart with a slant six as his first car. Not quite the same as a TR6!

Never came near a Dodge Dart best I recall but of course you're right. I used the wrong description of the TR6 engine. At least I didn't refer to it as a V6

All doubts removed. I've seen a fair number of TR6's over the years but not one single brown one. https://www.google.com/search?q=triu...w=1920&bih=944

The best part was definitely the noise!! It echoes in the canyons magnificently with the top down.

Second best part, the views. Looking up at Fall foliage. Looking out across the mountains.

Body roll? Basically nonexistent in Sport+

Some people consider the cab a lesser car. But unless you’re a track addict, I think it might actually be the more fun car!!

PS - putting it up and down while you’re driving is simply awesome
Yes. I've owned almost 70 911's over 40 years including almost every RS, 959, 991R and so on. My '94 Speedster still one of my favorites after 26 years. My 997.1 '08 C4 Cab wasn't great at anything. But it was really, really good at almost everything including 160 MPH in Italy and 10" of snow in Colorado. I just purchased a '95 993 Cab with 16k miles for my wife. I've added the Bluetooth Continental and it becomes an air-cooled "modern" car. These cars are undervalued right now and a real alternative to a very large, heavy and expensive 992. More importantly, they are a joy to drive.

Yes - this was in Harriman State Park too. Some of the finest scenic & cruising roads in lower NY state!

Loved driving that route when I lived (about 13 years) in NYC. Just as enjoyable in a coupe with the sunroof open and windows done.

I have a couple convertibles and a few coupes and one thing I love about my 911 is getting a nice open feel even with the sunroof open and windows down. My other coupes dont have sunroofs and it definitely changes the experience...

Thanks for your post, you're the person I need to talk to. I'm in the market for a new (to me) convertible (love the top down!), and looking seriously at a G37 (or Q60). My wife has an 01 manual Carrera 4 cab, LOVE IT but I'm used to more torque (just sold my supercharged 07 Mustang cvt, 500 rwhp, 475 tq @ 2800 rpm) and I want something "different" (I've had 4 supercharged s197 Mustangs, need to move on). Compared to your Porsche, how would you rate the G37 experience?
I love everything about the G37 so far, with a few reservations:
5 speed auto is really bad, no way I'd own one
can't find a manual car, esp w/ low mileage
7 speed auto is WAY better, I think I could live with it
Test drove a '14, top made (up) some creaky noises in corners, is that normal?
It's heavy and you feel the weight but the car seems to manage it well
I might want to beef it up (torque junkie), have you done any power adders? Any suggestions on what / what order to make mods?
Any "ubiquitous" problems I should be aware of?
I'm looking for a low mileage, super nice unit. Any suggestions for particular year etc.?
Maybe you know one for sale?
THANKS for your response, and sorry for replying to such an old thread.
