Default Key fobs dead, code 8042

So, both key fobs stopped working on my club coupe. Good batteries and simultaneous problem. Neither frunk nor doors work with the fobs.

durametric shows code 8042-front luggage compartment unlocking.

Frunk opens fine with the botton on the floor. Doors lock with the dash button. Door locks and unlocks with the key. Locking with the key sets the alarm. Unlocking with the key does not unarm the alarm.

While I search the forum, does this error ring a bell with anyone?

Was the car parked locked for longer than a week maybe?
It might have to do something with the “sleep mode” (I forgot how it’s called) when the car is parked locked for an extended period of time.
Look in the owners manual how to reactivate the key fobs.

I had it happen once a while back but I honestly forgot how I got the keys to reactivate.

Try to lock and unlock the door with the actual blade of the key. That's how you wake it up if it fails asleep. Maybe yours is dozing or half-asleep.

Not sleeping. I used the key repeatedly prior in the day and have been using the blade in the door since.

Unfortunately there wasnt much to be found in a rennlist search. Anyone have a suggestion to diagnosing the frunk error code? Thanks.
