Lets see....I've owned (5) 996's (2000 CS, 2001 CS, 2002 C4S, 2003 C4S & 2003 C4S) from 2011-2016 with absolutely no IMS issues----> and (3) 997's from 2016-2019 (05 997S, 07 997C4S, 07 997S) and currently have my low mileage trouble-free 2007 997S staring at me from the garage rolling it's headlight about all the IMS banter.
The failure rate on these 997 is such a small % especially when compared to earlier Porsche model issues.
New owners need to understand that the large majority (99%) of Porsche owners never set foot into car forums - They are too busy enjoying their car.
Worry warts, dooms day types get sucked into car forums which attract the small % of those who have had IMS/Bore Scoring issues.
These people tend to swirl the hype while 99% of the other Porsche owners are having fun and realizing what a great machine the 997 is to drive and how funny it is to have such girls locker room type chit-chat on these Forums.
